our review
'Crowning South Place Hotel is Angler restaurant on the seventh floor, with views of London's iconic skyline. A British seafood restaurant overseen by Tony Fleming, previously Executive Chef at One Aldwych, the menu focuses on seafood and shellfish from across the British Isles and is complemented by a wine list of around 250 bins. In the far corner of the restaurant, the private dining room commands spectacular views of City landmarks, including the Gherkin and Tower 42. The rooftop terrace looks set to be a new City hot spot, especially in Spring and Summer.'

I visited Angler for my birthday dinner last Thursday with five friends. I booked it because I couldn't get a booking at another restaurant. Had no expectations and must admit I wasa little cynical about 'hotel restaurants' beforehand.
Wow, what an experience! The restaurant is comfortable, intimate and chic - probably not best suited to a slightly raucous group of girls but this made no difference to the service. The service was exemplary, could not fault a single thing. Not over attentive, just perfect, genuinely polite and professional.
The food was 10/10! The standard was better than I have had in Michelin starred restaurants. The dishes were not wildy exciting but they didn't need to be as they were simple yet wonderfully executed. The fish was so fresh, so perfectly cooked and presented; you have to try this place to understand how great it is.
A 100% recommendation - I will definitely be returning.

We dined at Angler last night (Tuesday) and were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and simple elegant decor. We had no reservation and another friend joined us about 45 minutes into our meal and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
The food is delicious - fresh, creative without being fussy, beautifully executed and presented. The menu does seem expensive (although there are less expensive options as well), but when it arrives it looks and tastes well worth it. The desserts were also excellent (I very much enjoyed the fresh fig/yogurt/pistachio crumb) and I'm keen to return and sample more!
Overall I highly recommend this welcome new arrival - beautiful surroundings, fantastic food and a lovely place to catch up with friends.

Amazing food, great and very friendly service (apart from the terrace barman who was a little slow), will definitely go back! The prices are a little higher than normal but they are definitely worth it as the seafood tastes amazingly fresh. We also got a discount for going in their opening week which was a rather welcome surprise! Would recommend to anyone.
