Jut searching around to see the reputation of this bar given that during the Easter weekend, the barman at Bar 54 (previously known as Jawani) refused to serve me tap water during the night. When advised this was illegal, his response was, "who gives a *****?

I will however say the music was good.

I've been to Jawani twice, once for a wedding reception and once for a meal... on both occasions management bent over backwards to help us and the food was great.

I've been here twice, once we booked it for a friends wedding reception and service was fantastic, management and staff bent over backwards for us.

The second time I took two friends who had just gotten engaged, again the ervice was great, and food was excellent. All of us would go back again.

How on earth did this restaurant get an average rating of 9? As one of the previous reviewers suggested it must be the restaurant owners.

I have never tasted Thai food as bad as this in my life (no exaggeration). I like to eat Thai food at least once every 2 weeks and I was extremely disappointed with the food and level of service I received.

1) Service - I feel extremely sorry for staff at this place because they tried to be helpful, but the manager should go and take a course in basic customer service. The manager took our food orders, and then took the next tables order and so on, so it was probably 15 min before the kitchen received our order. The other table waited 30 min for their starters to be bought out (the restaurant wasn't very busy). Then the manager said they were about to start making the main courses?????? Can the kitchen only cope with 1 course at a time? She began to state all meals are freshly prepared blah blah and will be another 20 min. We were thinking I hope it will be worth the wait.

2) Food - We ordered typical dishes... Massaman and Penang curries. 35 minutes later… All I can say is the chef must be having a bad day because there was so much salt in the curries we could not eat it. Not only this, I found strips of newspaper (yes newspaper) in my Massaman curry. The Penang suffered from an oil slick to challenge any that have occurred in the Atlantic. The layer of oil must have been at least an inch thick.

We received no apology from the manager, she was obviously having a “bad day” and her general attitude suggested it was our fault for eating at this place. We didn’t pay for the curry with the strips of newspaper and I hope this was a temporary chef working on Friday; otherwise this place will surely go out of business.

I have to strongly disagree with the 2 negative reviews!

On Saturday night I held a birthday party at Jawani's. They guys at the restaurant helped put on a great evening and had no problems feeding 24 of us.

The food was great - we had a mixture of Thai and Indian dishes that we pre-ordered. They catered for all our tastes. The food came out at the same time....no one had to sit around waiting for anything. Service was great - drinks flowed constantly all evening!

And to top it all off the food was extremely good value.

The restaurant and the toilets were clean. There's also a bar/dancefloor area downstairs that we moved onto after the meal.

All in all I had a fab birthday party and would definitely recommend and also revisit Jawani again and again!

I loved the crispy shoe ducks. The chaprasi fillets with beanstalk soup was spicy but cold and warm.

This is highly recommended for a night out.

This would have to be one of the worst restaurants in London. The food wasn't true thai, it lacked alot of the usual thai ingredients, secondly it wasn't clean and the toilets were in a terrible state. I strongly do not recommend anyone try this place, it was very very disappointing. The waitress was great and tried really hard, it must be very difficult for her to stay pleasant when working at such a place.

The last two reviews are obviously by the owners of the restaurant and the PR Company they use - London Eating should visit this place - Especially when it has such a high rating (Even Gordon Ramsay would be happy with these points 9.4 !!!) and see how awful this place really is - If you guys give this a rating higher than 5 I would be very surprised ( No I think shocked would be the word )

I use this site a lot before visiting restaurants and normally the reviews are fairly accurate - But definitely not this one
