Service fantastic, food so good ,so tasty that I went downstairs to the kitchen to thank the chef. Atmosphere good, packed place. Very good wine list, really value for money. We left at 10pm and there were still people waiting for a table. Definitely going there again! !!!

This has long been a favourite of ours as we live close by and 3 years ago we felt things were just getting better and better. Unfortunately things seem to have slipped quite a bit more recently and have now had 2 below par experiences in the same week. We are gutted as we are used to going here at least a couple of times a month. Watch out as things get busier and busier over the summer and service slips accordingly.

The food is excellent and the set menu is relatively good value for money in the area; the staff are friendly and efficient, if rather informally dressed. However, the ambience lets the restaurant down - the large windows onto the street make it feel cold and exposed on an autumn evening and table cloths would add a sense of occasion and make it warmer. It was pretty empty on the night we went, whilst the more expensive Pellicano next door was humming - perhaps there is a lesson there.

I was in a bit of a pickle on a Friday night. My PA had booked me a table for 14 for dinner in a restaurant called Brinkley's for an important dinner. I no longer live in London and this visit was for a most important business meeting.
On calling to confirm our reservation on the Friday morning, my PA was informed that the booking she had made two weeks before was "not in the book" and that there wasn't room for our party.
I called a good friend who lives in Chelsea and they recommended Elistano in Elystan Street, Chelsea so I asked my PA to call and book.
Antonia Tingey, the manager of the restaurant, was nothing less than brilliant. She understood my PA's plight and offered a great value set menu for my large party.
The food was simply superb and my party, none of whom had dined at Elistano before, were most impressed. The restaurant is lively yet not too noisy and the wonderful photographs just set the place off.
With wines starting at just £16 a bottle, the list was most impressive. We opted for reds in the mid £30 range and Pinot Grigio for the ladies - which, equally, was very good.
I ate a most delicious veal milanese off the À la carte menu, as did several others, and we all felt it was one of the best we'd had outside of Italy (I have a home in Portofino so am used to the finest Italian cuisine). Others in the party dined on various pasta dishes - all of which were generous in portion size - and sea bass.
For dessert, the cheese plate was simply delicious. The cheeses are brought directly from Italy and were correctly served at room temperature (unlike most other incompetent restaurants in London).
The extremely reasonable bill was a most pleasant surprise too. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough as they looked after us when another place failed, served us excellent food and drink and looked after us in a most hospitable manner.
I do not normally write restaurant reviews but on this occasion I felt it essential to put pen to paper to commend Antonia Tingey and her brilliant staff.
