Stumbled upon Shampers one evening and we popped in. I had steak and my girlfriend had Sea Bass. The Steak was cooked med/rare as requested but was just really, really tough and whilst it was obviously Sirloin it was just a very poor piece of beef. The Sea Bass was just okay but the Chips were terrible. Very greasy and quite obviously old chips reheated or chips fried in oil that should have been changed 3 weeks previous. Steak and chips isn't a hard one to get right, but this was worst ever.

I would have complained but the staff were more interested in chatting each other behind the bar. Poor service and I won't be going back.

Been going here now and again for many years. Went tonight after sometime and was quite disappointed. The waitress who served us was robotic, minimal effort to welcome us, explain anything about the menu, ask us how our food was, quick to take our plates and very quick to take our money. It was a real pity because I don't want to go back there. I paid the service of 12.5% that was added to our bill but I really didn't feel happy about it. A shame really.

If you do go, their squid with chilli and ginger is delicious. Portions are much smaller than they use to be. Fish on mains is average. Toffee and banana pie is nice.. I did wonder how fresh or frozen things were.

Other than tonight's experience, it's a lovely little place with a great wine menu. Here's hoping that someone is listening.

Went to Shampers for a long mid-week lunch. Did what it said on the tin, but still felt like a Stock Pot with higher prices.

Not rushing back to this one.

I am a regular customer at Shampers and it has never let me down whether I take business colleagues, friends or family. The atmosphere is great, the food is good and the value, particularly for Central London, is exceptional. Just ask for a bottle of wine to suit your taste and budget and leave the rest to the manager. You will not be disappointed.

Came here for lunch with my two brothers who had told me how wonderful this establishment was. I have never had such delicious chips anywhere else in the world and the fish was scrumptious too. The waiting staff were charming and I have now booked to come back for dinner for a special anniversary celebration: can't wait!
