El Prado

I'm sorry to hear that the reviewer before me had an unsatisfactory experience here but can only assume (as quite a regular visitor) that he must have been unlucky that night. This is the first time I have heard a bad word about El Prado so I urge propspective diners not to be put off!

I can't believe this place does not feature in any of the major restaurant guides. I have always found the food to be excellent - huge selection of delicious tapas / starters, fresh-tasting seafood in vast quantities, and one of the best fillet steaks I have eaten in London (no kidding). The extrovert owner is always welcoming and the service (although language issues can be a problem) polite and attentive.

Despite the slightly bland decor (and - I agree - music), one of my favourite places to eat out in Fulham.

I hate to be negative, as the owner is trying hard, but the only other review is so over the top in its praise that I feel I have to comment to bring a sense of reality to this page. The food here is ok at best, its not better than many places (such as La Mancha in Putney) - maybe we just got a bad day. The sauce on the patatas bravas (which I find is always an easy quality test) was just poor and cheap tasting. Atmosphere was again ok (they had a rather bizarre music selection), but we did go on a tuesday and there was only one other table taken. Service was not great - a little slow and we ordered 5 tapas dishes and 1 was brought out wrong (I was there with a Spanish person so no communication issues). Overall, I wouldn't advise coming far for this place, however I have heard good reports from friends so maybe we just got unlucky or you shouldn't order the tapas.
