We went here with our family at lunchtime. We went because we received a flyer from a member of staff peddling for business. We ordered the simplest of meals and waited and waited and waited...... the drinks arrived in 3 minutes the food 45 minutes later after the bar staff arrogantly asked why are you looking at us? I answered - "FOOD" at this point the waiter began to open and shut a lot more even though the cook had moved from the kitchen to the dining room and started shouting things about football! The owner came over with an attitude of what could possibly be YOUR problem! She said do you want a take away! When the food arrived it was the MOST bland rubbish we had ever tasted and we left half - the owner gave us a small discount (£4 or something). I WILL NEVER TAKE MY FAMILY TO THIS RUBBISH RESTAURANT EVER AGAIN - I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THIS IS THE WORST EVER. DO NOT GO HERE EVER

Having stumbled across Base yesterday evening, I wasn't expecting great things. The menu seemed far too large and varied to expect the food to be fresh so my expectations were low BUT I'm pleased to say I was proved wrong. We had the asparagus & avocado salsa starter and the aubergine & goats cheese rigatoni and were surprised and delighted with the quality and value of the food. All freshly prepared and very well presented. The service was very friendly and helpful and so would definitely return. A definite thumbs up for Base.

We have just moved into a flat in Baker Street, and in the process of working our way round all the local restaurants, when we stumbled across Base.
Nothing particularly special from the outside, but the staff inside looked friendly and welcoming, and the menu included several things that attracted our interest.
Wow! If the quality of the cooking is the main reason you go out to eat, then this little Brasserie is an amazing find. I started with the Asparagus risotto, which was really delicious - my only complaint was the portion was far too generous for a starter. My wife had the Warm Goats Cheese Salad, which she also really enjoyed.
To follow, we had an excellent Sea Bass in a creamy leek sauce from their daily specials board, and some herb crusted lamb chops. Both excellent.
Then we shared a banana crepe in chocolate sauce for desert. Mmmmm.
We will be back!

I'm very upset by my experience at your Baker Street cafe this morning.
I was very clear when ordering eggs benedict that I wanted them medium well and that the yolks should not be runny.
When my dish came 5 minutes later, I could see that the yolks were completely raw. I told the waiter I was unhappy and that I had asked for them to be not runny. He took the plate away and came back 2 minutes later, having microwaved the eggs, the sauce and the bacon, rather than just remaking the eggs the way I had asked for them in the first place. I refused to eat them and sent them back. The waiter made no apology or even asked me if I wanted an alternative breakfast.
The waiters were extremely unconcerned about the situation.

A small group of friends and I recently ate at Base and it was rather good.
The service was a tad slow, but we were in no hurry so that didn't bother us.
The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere inviting.
Although as a vegetarian I felt the menu was rather limited, and it would have been nice to see a bit more attention to non-meat dishes.
It's also on the Taste London books so it's much better value for money.
