Their lunch specials - noodle dishes and rice dishes are probably what they are best at. The ala carte menu though tempting as it is, can be a little disappointing if you are a Malaysian or Indonesian.

After reading the reviews on this website, we thought this resaturant sounded ideal. To begin with, the service was friendly however this did not last long. We soon noticed the staff had the tendancy to stare at us during our meal, being 2 females this made us very uncomfortable.

Melati is one of my favourite restaurants in London. The Indonesian/Malaysian dishes are absolutely delicious and definitely the best i have tasted in London. I recommend trying the satay. Melati is one of the few places in London that serves beef satay, and does it well. the meat is thouroughly marinated and very tender. the flavours are a combination of hot and sweet. I can recommend the noodle dishes, especially the istemewa dishes which come with both satay and beef rendang (beef braised in coconut and sweet soy), which is a real delicacy if prepared right. i could eat here every day.

One of my favourite places to eat in central London! The food is great and includes dishes it is hard to find outside Malaysia. It is excellent value for money and the staff always make you feel welcome. The decor may not be all that, but it is very authentically Malaysian though!

I had high hopes for this place after a recommendation from a work colleague. I could not have been more disappointed. The service left a lot to be desired and the food itself was abysmal - I started with a chewy satay that seemed well past it's sell by date and things got progressively worse with chicken rendang that was bland, overcooked and completely uninspired. My friend had roti canai which was passable, but nothing to write home about. All in all, a lacklustre experience. Avoid like the plague
