We go to Shiraz every fortnight or so and it is excellent every time. The grilled aubergine starter and any of the grilled meat dishes are very good, as is the rose ice cream and the Persian tea.

Very good place. Very good value.

I have been there couple of nights ago.

As usual the food was fantastic as well as very friendly staff. There is live music in the restaurant on Fridays and Saturdays nights.

I strongly recommend having some of the delicious starts especially dishes made by begrime as well as salad-Olivier.

Unlike most of Iranian restaurants where the food is of good quality but the curtsey is low, you can have a good meal in a friendly atmosphere in Shiraz.

However, sometimes during busy nights the service might be slightly slow.

I like it, my fiancé likes it and all of my friends like it.

This is my trusty "local". Great food, good prices - I always end up going home with a doggie bag. Lots of old-school Persians go here. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but always polite.

I have eaten in Shiraz four times in the past year, each time I have found myself looking forward to the mouth watering and extremely tasty dishes, I have chosen a different dish at every opportunity so that I may compare it with the taste, quality and quantity of all the other Iranian restaurants that I have dined in, in the past, here in London and when in Iran on holiday too.

The starters are just great, especially the hot aubergine dip, the salad-o-livier and the garlic and yoghurt dip served with hot Iranian style bread.

The mince meat kebab, the lamb fillet kebab and the cubed chicken breast kebab (which is marinated in saffron and other spices and herbs) is just superb, it is tender and succulent cooked to perfection, the rice is soft and flaky seasoned with saffron and butter which just melts in your mouth.

The Aubergine stew (Choresh the badamjoon) and the celery stew (Choresh the karafs) and the green stew with red kidney beans (Ghorme sabzi) are just the best that I have ever tasted.

However, I have never tasted their desserts and cannot comment as I personally dislike rosewater and saffron flavourings in sweet dishes in general.

Shiraz tops all the Iranian restaurants that I have dined in including the restaurants in Tehran and North of Iran.

I have received an excellent waiter service from Shiraz, and to top it all I found it value for money. I would not hesitate to recommend Shiraz over and over again to family and friends. I personally like the restaurant because of its tranquillity and the calm and relaxed atmosphere.

I would just like to respond out to persons Anon and K& J who I understand are not from the Iranian culture just like myself. Iranian food is seasoned with a mixed blend of spices and herbs to give dishes a unique flavour which is a speciality to Iranian cuisine and culture. To appreciate Iranian cuisine one must have a slight understanding of the Iranian history in cooking. If you want free meals try H M S Prisons’ A la Carte restaurants. I bet you find it quite exclusive. Furthermore, I think is highly comical when one reads these peoples’ comments (miserly characters) whom had to walk to settle their undesirable (as they say) food bill and made the owner richer! Don't you think so.

The food is fantastic. It is served in a nice shape. Atmoshpere is friendly with very friendly waiters.

Prices are for London reasonable.

I recommend it to everyone, specially families

Very good food at a fair price, makes you want to go back again and again.

Friendly atmosphere and clean surroundings. It can be tricky to catch the waiters attention, but its a small consideration considering the delicious food.

Mediocre and over priced food and poor service. Its no wonder the other restaurants along the same street are far busier. One to avoid.

Such arrogance!! Thats my conclusion from having eaten at Shiraz recently. While the starters that we had were OK (a cucumber salad and a yoghurt dip with shallots), plentiful and reasonably priced they seemed to take an age to arrive even though they were not 'cooked' starters and the restaurant was not overly busy. Then we had to wait again for ages for a mixed grill which at £9 per person left a lot to be desired as it consisted of 4 mediocre kebabs with two plates of albeit plentiful rice. The mince meat kebabs tasted like school dinners that Jamie Oliver would have tried to have removed from the menu and the chicken had a very strange taste that left doubts in my mind as to its quality. However the worst part of the whole experience was the end. Having asked twice for a bill from a waiter who had an obsession with cleaning one particular table we decided that as the 'service' was well below par we would only pay for the food and drink. The owner / manager was not having this and and indeed become quite arrogant insisting that by law we had to pay the whole bill (this I have since found out is incorrect as legally you only have to pay for the food and drink you consume and can refuse to pay the service charge or only pay part if service is below par). His whole attitude was aggressive and he basically got angry saying that he'd rather have no customers than customers like us and it was people like us that were putting him on the verge of bankruptcy. Then to top it all 2 credit cards that we tried to use 'miraculously' didn't work (as the machine was busy). We were told that he could do nothing about it and would have to pay in cash prompting a trip to the bank next door (all very convenient for him I think).

In conclusion with an attitude like his to the treatment of his customers its no wonder that he had so few people in his restaurant on a Saturday night when the othere restaurants along the same road were over 3/4 full. My recommendation therefore - don't eat at Shiraz under any circumstances.
