Lamoon

This restaurant is a fantastic find. I work locally so have been in for the £5 set lunch menu, which as per other reviews, still offers an extensive list of starters and mains. Everything always tastes fresh and not overly oily. Staff are always friendly in my experience, so I am surprised to see any bad reviews, but not everyone can be pleased!

I'd recommend this for anyone local to Camberwell, or even to those to travel to the restaurant. My mouth it watering already as I plan to pay a visit after work on my way home......

i'm not sure if the last review is talking about the same restaurant. i have been to lamoon on quite a few occasions and it has always come out on tops for service and friendliness. the last time i was there were quite a few children of customers all beng attended to. not that i advocate that, i personally hate chidlren in restaurants with their noisiness and whining, but i totally disagree with the last review.

as for the food, they have an extensive menu offering all sorts of creative foods which for me so far have all been very tasty. if i ever go to a restaurant and receive bad service, i normally think about how much nicer it would have been if we went to lamoon instead...

Tried Lamoon based on the great reviews... However, my experience was far from great. The atmosphere was quite unwelcoming and the staff were visibly displeased at the fact that my husband and I had brought our 2 year old along. My daughter was uncharacteristically quiet for the whole affair (I think she sensed the vibe) but it was still an issue. Oddly, although we were seated at a corner table the waitresses kept bumping into our table and sighed heavily at my request for an extra plate for my daughter.

Overall, it was quite unpleasent; definitely not child-friendly and the food; mediocre at best.

Really great food, and good service. The restaurant is quite small so can feel a bit weird at times, but I always have a good time anyway (well I'm normally with my boyfriend so I should!).

Have been several times for the set lunch at £5 - what a bargain - choice of around 7 starters and about 12 main courses. All served quickly and with a smile. The Jasmine tea was refreshed without asking. A real bonus for Camberwell

I have been to many Chinese restaurants in my time and this place is excellent. The area - not the greatest, but this place seems like a gold nugget muddy waters - and believe me, definetly worth the journey.

We were seated promptly and the atmosphere was very good. I felt lucky to get a seat. Everyone was very chatty and in a joyous mood, which made me relax. The service was fast and very good, always a smile and asking if we needed anything else. The food came in good time and was very, very good. Prawn Crackers weren't too greasy, the barbeque ribs were glazed in a honey sause, the chicken satay cooked to perfection with an lovely sauce... for the mains, we had the lemon chicken and changed the meat in another order which can be tedious in other restaunts, but was no problem at all.

In all honesty, the atmosphere was brilliant, the food was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone! Try it, you will never order take out again!

PS - they do a take-away as well! Madness!
