I have been to Ishtar many times. In my first visit, I tried their early evening menu which is at a reasonable price and excelent quality food. Cold and hot meze and main course options are superb and very appetizing. The service is excelent and friendly as always. I m planing to organise my wedding reception in Ishtar in September. I always enjoy with the music, belly dancer and food so i would like to take all my friends to Ishtar in my wedding..

my partner and i had a valentine's dinner at ishtar, we had a three course meal and the food was so delicious, the staff was friendly and service was good. on top of it we had a complementary food by the owner. great hospitality. i will certainly recommend this restaurant, and i will be booking a party soon too.

Living in Marylebone I have been here a number of times. It is the best Turkish food in London, with a good atmosphere (relaxed but not sloppy) and excellent service. The only time I had problem with the service (the starter was taking a long time - they'd forgotten it), they apologised and brought two (large) free mezzes to compensate. I recommend completely.

Fabulous in every way! I went to Ishtar last week with my husband with our 50% off voucher in tow, and let me say...our expectations were very much exceeded!

For one, the atmosphere is very sweet...romantic even, with tea light candles, and neautral coloured decor. It is not your typical Turkish restaurant, as many put the emphasis on the food, and not too much else (from my experience). Even the cutlery was gorgeous!

The food was presented lovely - and tasted divine also. We got the mixed meze for an appetiser, and although we needed to order extra bread, our order came in about two minutes! For a main, I got the lamb iskender - which was presented differently to any other Turkish restaurant I have been to, using real lamb pieces rather than cheap doner slices. It tasted lovely! My husband ordered the Mixed grill and thoroughly enjoyed his also.

For dessert, I got baklava which was one of the nicest I have ever tasted! My husband got the apple pastry dish which was lovely...and quite a decent size too!

Overall a brilliant feed, and at 50% off (food only)... it made the experience even more enjorable! Highly recommended for a quite night out....and on a side note, take a trip down to their toilets and you will discover a hidden gem: their function room in the basement, light up like Aladdin caves!! (very impressive!)

Food is great! for starters you can find borek, fallafel, king prawns, mix mezze, as main courses both types of kebab are great (meat cubes and the other one), meyvely kuzu is great between sweet and salty because of the lamb and the pear, for desert kazandibi is great but backlava is the best one! and I love that they match the ice cream with a fruit kebab.

The Ishtar Restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The food is always fresh and the hospitality by all staff 1st class! Highly recommended from a regular guest who's whole party is often treated to a complimentary coffees and that in central London.

I've been to this restaurant twice in the past week, as it was conveniently open over the xmas period when many restaurants in the area were closed.

On both occasions, I was served a superb meal. On the first visit , I sampled the lamb iskender, and it was good. The acidity of the tomato sauce blended well with the fresh yoghourt, and the lamb gave it good body. It was a very generous portion. On the second occasion, I chose the lamb with pears, apricot and couscous. It was a sensational dish. The lamb had been slow cooked to perfection, so that it fell apart in my mouth. The dish was elegantly presented, and the unusual combination of cooked fruit and meat tickled my tastebuds delightfully.

On both visits, I ordered a bottle of the Gamay Noir, very good value at only £16. In fact, there is a good choice of wines under £20, which means the total bill never gets out of control.

Service was pleasant and polite, which was refreshing. All in all, I thought this a great restaurant, and will be going again.

this restaurant is nothing like you might imagine it to be after reading the reviews. It is a well decorated place with a nice feel to it, but thats where all good things end.

Service was terrible... really slow... starters cam first before drinks... 15mins later our drink arrives, run out of bread for dips, so had to wait another 15mins 4more bread.

Mian course was pre cooked, slightly heated dry dry chicken with 1 cauliflour, 1 broccli and 1 carrt. Complained, got another one made, still just as bad.

Managed to get 25 pound knocked off the bill because me and my partner didnt eat main course atall. Total Dissappointment.
