Though serving Japanese food, the restaurant is owned and run by Koreans. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I have lived in Korea and eaten excellent Japanese food there. Not to mention that many ethnic Koreans have lived in Japan for many generations.
Anyway in this case, for whatever reason, I have to say to stay away from the Japanese food. It was terrible - not fresh, tasted awful. and simply disappointed.
I have eaten the Korean food here before and it is passable. The most redeeming quality was the price. Otherwise I can't really recommend this place.

Claims to be a Japanese cafe but no Japanese staff. Small, inexpensive and tastes cheap. The chicken in the bento box was grey, the salad limp - just as one of the earlier reviews warned.
When I went at lunchtime, only one other table was occupied, by tourists. Avoid! Do not believe any of the good reviews - there is NO WAY this restaurant could serve even half-decent food.

I adore this restuarant!! I go here once a week so Ive been able to get a good picture over time on the standards.
The service is always impeccable.. food arrives promptly no matter what I order and the meals are very well priced. Especially the bento box specials...
The food is consistently high quality, and the nori rolls arent saturated with mirin as some other places are want to do.
It is a tiny restuarant.. but its true to eating in tokyo, crammed shoulder to shoulder. I find that endearing as this places the emhpasis on the food and service itself.
The venue is surprisingly quiet despite how packed it can get..and the oddness of the layout adds an extra touch of interest.
This is not a venue for those of lager girth as it seems to have been designed with the petite asian bodies in mind.

I love this restaurant. I have been there many times and have always been pleased with the food. Given its location, I don't think you could do much better. The sushi is great as is the tempura. The service could be better, but the staff are always polite.

I've been to this restaurant before and found it quite good value for money. However, on a recent visit the service was noticeably slow despite not being that full and an order was missed. The spider crab rolls and sushi were good, but if you want comfort and efficient service, you can do better elsewhere.

I went to this restaurant last night after reading the great reviews above. I was so let down by the terrible service but worst of all the food.
We had a good start with warming green tea and miso soup (after eventually getting served although the place was dead). Then my partner and I got a bento box each. It was cheap and my did it taste cheap. We had to leave most of the chicken, it was disgusting, grey and full of cartilage and skin. Sorry to be so vivid but I wouldn't feed that to my cats.
The salad was limp and pointless and the katsu sauce? Well I think it came from a bottle of good old HP.
Please avoid this place.

- Great sushi/sashimi
- Wide range of various cooked food on the menu also
- Relatively cheap for a Japanese spot in central London
- Friendly and efficient wait staff
- No frills deco
- For a quick, satisfying and tasty meal, it's a good bet.

Really good Japanese food at unpretentious prices. The tempura was excellent and the bento boxes are very good value. Setting is cramped and shabby looking, but the place is clean and staff seem helpful. Good for a quick lunch.
