This is the best pizza I have ever eaten in my life! My husband and I had two huge pizzas - I am an Italian girl so I am never quite satisfied with the pizza in England - THIS IS THE BEST EVER. My only annoyance is that the chef wouldn't tell me his secret base recipe....I will be back as often as possible thankyou.

I was visiting from the States and stopped by this charming restaurant before our show. I had the Linguine ai Funghi del Bosco, which was delicious. Service was prompt and courteous. No complaints.

I've eaten here quite a few times and the food has always been great. To be fair, I usually have one of their excellent pizzas. The restaurant is very small, so you do feel a bit crammed in. The staff have always been really friendly and attentive too.

Been to this place 3 times and its been great everytime. The food is excellent and nothing is to much trouble. I'm very surprised about the number of bad reviews and wonder whats going on. This does not reflect in anyway my experience to date. I'm planning on taking my wife for her birthday after we see a London Show.

I'm amazed by some of the good reviews here. My visit to Pulcinella's was utterly disappointing. To begin with we were seated at an awful table that was so close to the door that it felt like we were actually part of the front door. The table was wedged between the front door and the staircase and we had to have coats removed from the area in order to sit down because the banister was being used as a coat rack. Every time that the door opened a cold draught hit us and we had very little room to move our chairs.

Looking past the awful table we looked forward to an enjoyable meal but this was even more disappointing than the table. My first glass of wine was corked, the minestrone soup lacked the traditionally used ingredients of pasta and pulses. The accompanying side vegetables were cold and consisted of ONE small potato, one small brocoli floret and an excessive amount of undercooked carrot. The main course of veal was inedible.

The service charge of 12.5 % was in no way deserved as the staff were unfriendly and the lights in the women's toilets were broken. To compensate for the lack of lighting in the toilets one candle was provided.

In conclusion, I have spent a lot of time in Italy and this was Not Italian food at its best. I would never return to Pulcinella nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

P.S. ONE POTATO!!!

Had the Duck Liver Pate as a starter and the Linguine Fruits de Mare for my main here last night and to be diplomatic, both were underwhelming. The starter was passable at best but the real let down was the main. The clams were odd-tasting (though not horrible) and the shrimp I'm sure was some pre-cooked supermarket affair they threw in the pasta at the very last minute of cooking as you couldn't taste them in any other aspect of the dish. It seems certain they cooked (or pre-cooked) everything separately, then combined everything right before sending the dish out. The squid was unbelievably overcooked with consistency of cartilage and the whole dish was void of any seasoning or particular flavour. The linguine had no taste of any of the other ingredients, just salt. The only reason I didn't send it back was because I didn't want to seem like a jerk and ruin anyone else's experience there in the moment. The service was far below average compared to other places with similar prices but I agreed to the charge anyway for the aforementioned reason.

I've just quietly decided never to return and would recommend you try someplace else if you want some good Itlian food.

My friend and I dined at Pulcinella last night. A truly mediocre experience.

The linguine Frutti di mare ( baby clams-squids-mussles and prawns) were served without baby clams. I wasn't informed that they run out of baby clams and more prawns were added without my consent.

When asked why I wasn't told none of the waitresses seemed bothered on apologizing.

Second pasta dish Farfalle al Salmone, was also changed as they didn't have salmon but we were told about it so no big fuzz. Please manager sort your stock out..

When I asked them if we could move to the table outside to finish our dinner we were asked for a credit card, probably scared we would run away without paying.

To show a bit of concern about this unprofessional and non-polite request I also asked two coffees, one tiramisu to be served once we finished our wine. plus the bill.

They served us two tiramisu ( I asked for one) the coffees without the bill. ???when our wine glasses were still full.

When I complained about the service I was offered not to pay the service charge which was still on the bill when I paid. I paid the whole amount...

At the end of the day...I've lost some money and didn't totally enjoy the dinner but they have lost two possible regular customers. It is a shame that restaurant like this have no respect for people, locals as I, since they know them businness will still survive with tourists. Shameful!!

Really expensive and food not up to standard ... got my pasta cold and extremely overcooked!!

This is the third time I went back to Pulcinella and for the third time in a row I had a really not pleasant experience ... won't go again unless part of a party hence no choice and I wouldn't definitely recommend it to anyone!!

Is the chef Italian at all??? I'm starting to have serious doubts now ...

Really disappointed in every aspect, quality of food, value for money (I really found £.28 for a starter, a pasta and a small glass of wine a rip off especially considering the quality and the size of the portions), service ...

Sorry Pulcinella but I wouldn't really feel comfortable in recommending your restaurant to any of my friends! :(

I went to eat at Pulcinella's last night with family. I wasn't sure about surroundings, especially when we were shown upstairs. We almost left after being seated but thought we would give it a chance. My side plate infront of me looked greasy, and when my house red wine arrived, it was quite warm and was over-fermented. When the food arrived, I gave a look of shock at the presentation. I chose Lasagne, which I have to say was the worst I have ever tasted. The pasta was like melted plastic and over cooked, the meat was just dry economy mince with no sauce. (Tescos quick meal would win hands down!) I struggled through half thinking it might get better. The waitress did ask if it was okay and I replied, no, I'm sorry but it wasn't very nice. She apologised and took it away. (no mention of refund). The meal cost £48 for 4 basic main courses, 1 small glass of house red and 3 cokes. The experience totally spoiled our day out in London. As mentioned in a previous review, they are able to rely on passing tourists to keep them going. They should be closed down straight away, are there no trading standards concerning London restaurants?

Avoid this one is my advice!
