My husband and I decided to take our parents to a show at Sadlers Wells for a Christmas present, so dropped into the Zetter for pre-show bite. As it was only 6 o'clock we weren't suprised that we were the only diners, so difficult to comment on ambience - the food though, was absolutely superb. To the point that I actually got quite annoyed at the previous reviews.

Before selecting from the delicious menu, try a cocktail - they are amazing! Between the 6 of us, we had the opportunity to taste lots of their dishes and we were all oohhing and aaahhhing. I had the pasta dish and it melted like buttler.

If you haven't been yet, the Zetter is definitely worth a visit. Great staff, great food and prices not at all bad.

Having visited Zetter last night, I cannot believe anyone has taken the time to write a positive review. Our large group of 12 people had the place to ourselves- judging by the quality of the food and the size of the prices, quite rightly. Almost ten pounds for three measly tasteless prawns on some stodgy base with a tasteless dollop of yellow sauce? Sixteen quid for a tiny, dull steak with what looked like deep fried pencil shavings and a salad that was inedibly salty? The blundering waitresses got an order wrong without apology, and considering the miniscule size of the portions and the fact that we were the only people in the place, the food took unforgivably long to arrive. The Zetter sums up the absoloute worst in restaurants- pretentious, dull, expensive crap masquerading as cutting edge haute cuisine. If you enjoy eating here you have all the class and taste of Donald Trump.

After reading some of the below reviews I had to go this restaurant and promptly booked a table. I read the menu online and that certainly got my mouth watering but when I came round to eating the food didn't quite deliver to my expectations. The garlic prawns starter was tasty but nothing special, and the steak was definitely not one of the best I've tasted unlike someone else has suggested. The highlights were the creme brulee which was magnificent and the yummy cocktails, so try those. Overall well worth a visit, and the restaurant has a nice design, but not the best food in town

My partner and I ate here last Friday for the second time. The previous time was a Sunday, and although the restaurant wasn’t very busy the food was excellent. We passed Zetter by chance on the Friday and decided to eat there again remembering our previous meal. We were able to get a table without booking (although it was 10pm) and the restaurant was still busy. We both had the grilled garlic prawns with pork belly and chorizo to start and it was delicious. Following this we both had the Argentinean Angus steak, although i was torn between that and the duck. The steak was probably one of the best steaks either of us have ever had (and we both love steak). Very finely sliced with a delicious rich flavour and melted in your mouth. For desert we had the crème brulee with banana split ice cream, again lovely. We didn’t have any wine, but my partner had a few cocktails, which were very good. For a total of £83 including service charge i cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

I ate here at the beginning of August for the first time in a while. The food is still excellent, well worth the price.

I LOVE this place. I was taken here for my birthday by friends and we had a geat Sunday lunch. One person was allowed to have two brunch options for their meal as they couldn't decide what to have and the roasts that we ordered (lamb and pork) were delicious. The restaurant itself is light, airy and funky and the staff are all suitably good looking and charming. Seating is well spaced and comfortable and there is a great choice of wine. A particularly unusual sorbet flavour of vodka and black pepper went down very well with some good coffee. Not particularly cheap but worth it for the fabulous food.

Laid back, gutsy flavours, hip without being pretenious are all adjectives I would use to describe the restaurant at the Zetter.

Firstly it looks great, open kitchen, long zinc bar big windows. Perhaps a little canteen like, but that works for me.

The wine list was an exciting delight, with some very interesting reginal Italian wines as well as Burgundy style, Rhone Style etc. We chose a rather special salento from Puglia.

The gutsy flavours should not come as a shock as the rstaurant and hotel is owned by the same people as Moro the Moorish Spanish/North African restaurant in Clerkenwell. The menu was very well balanced and seasonal with regional Italian influences. It changes monthly, we visited in September and for starters my parnter and I chose a tomato and saffron based fish stew; and lamb's kidneys on white beans. The food was presented well, extremely well balanced and the kidneys were cooked to perfection.

For main the pizza was tempting, with some ispirational toppings, the pasta dishes with regional Italian inspiration. The chocie of fish limited, but good. We chose sea bream and a lamb dish, both being delicious extremely well cooked and presented.

I refrained from dessert but my partner chose with difficulty (too much tempted her) a pistachio nut tartlet, the pastry being light and filling devine.

We both chose espresso, unfortunately this was the only thing that let down. Ther crema was not thick enough and no tiger skin, but hey I have coffee issues.

The overall experience was great, service was attentive, without being in your face, the food fantastic. Prices reasonable, at £90 for two including wine (@ £30). The atmosphere laid back but full of people who appreciate what the Zetter is trying to acheive. It is already there, the best Italian experience I have had outside Italy, just work on the coffee.

Had brunch here last Saturday lunch. It wasn't very busy so I am always surprised why restaurants tend to put everybody together.

Anyway we ordered 4 main courses and the desserts. All were very reasonable, the lamb was probably the best, the pastas above average.

Main gripe was the price and the very disjointed service.

I took my boyfriend last Thursday evening (his birthday)and we were both knocked out by the food and the really friendly service. They didn't turn a hair when he set fire to the menu(he's a bit clumsy)They have some amazing wines as well, which included a Salice Salento red from Puglia, and was delicious.

Perfectly cooked food, and I'm not normally a pud person, but I couldn't resist their unusual selection. They put a candle on his Bonet-Amaretti,coffee and caramel custard with raspberries, and he was delighted. They must have heard us talking,as I hadn't arranged it.They have tables in the square outside, and a lovely bar. We're going again at the weekend.Great place

Went here for the first time last night, and was very impressed. The service was particularly good, food delicious - very intense, gutsy, powerful flavours and interesting combinations, and beer and cocktails very nice too. It was a shame the restaurant wasn't more busy, but we ate quite early on a Wednesday evening, so to be expected I suppose. Will definitely be making a return visit.
