Cocoon

Extremely, extremely, disappointing.
Front of house staff - very attentive - once you are escorted to your table don't expect to be ordering let alone eating in a hurry!
We finally received our drinks, half an hour after ordering them, which was about half an hour before being eventually able to order any!
You could never get anyones' attention and when you did they said that they couldn't take our order and would get - surprise, surprise no one appeared.
Eventually ordered our food. The main course arrived before the starter, we then received the same main course later on - cold and chewy.
Decor initially looks hip but look closely it's just tired and a bit tatty around the edges.
Left hungry and with very empty pockets to show for it. We knew it wouldn't be a cheap night out but for three (sharing starters and mains plus 2 bottles of the the second to cheapest wine on the menu) the bill came in at around £250.
My advice, with so many places serving authentic and reasonable Japanese or Oriental cuisine, and so many 'funky' bars and restaurants in town, don't waste your time or your money.

Food here is amazing..you have to try the duck dumplings....and the tropical fruit salad for desert. It is a bit showy on the weekends but its got cool views of oxford street, the staff couldn't do more and the food is honestly worth spoiling yourself for.

Was almost scared to go to cocoon after reading some really bad reviews but decided to go after trying some of their food at taste of london.
Not my kind of decor but the food and service was great. The beef on hot rocks was such a good idea and for waguy beef not pricy at all. Cheaper than nobu and zuma.
You will see me again.

What a lovely night, went in with my friends for a drink in the bar but decided to stay fora meal. The receptionist was very helpful and found us a table by the window. The waitress that served me was very attentive and gave me great advice on what and how much to order. The food was simply devine.
I definately recomend Cocoon as our service was great and speedy, the staff were friendly and our bill was not too bad either.
Looking forward to my next visit!!!

Visited Cocoon on a Thursday night as part of a party of 10 for a leaving do of a colleague. The restaurant was very busy - completely full in fact and we were late as we couldn't get cabs. This was not an issue and the staff could not have been more helpful and professional. We were two people light and they were more than happy to re-arrange tables for us to improve our group seating position. The food was really good - not cheap but you have to think about the location. The sushi/sushmi was pretty good and the beef salad, soft shell crab and chillis prawns were excellent. The service was top class and the wine excellent - the head sommelier was especially helpful and professional and helped us find a great wine choice for the food at reasonable cost. I will be going back.

What an awful place.
Despite booking well in advance we were seated at a terrible table in a section where only one other table was occupied so it felt empty and completely lacking in atmosphere.
The decor is tacky and lacking in style.
The food is over-priced and poor quality. I love this type of food but the standard here was rock bottom compared to places like E+O or the Great Eastern Dining Room.

Really just a place to show off, if you're into that sort of thing....
First time i went was excellent even though tad bit on the expensive and small portion side, excellent beef teriyaki and tempura prawns.
Recently went in Feb, service was dire, sushi wasn't fresh even the bottle of water we ordered tasted polluted although it was meant to be environmentally friendly.
Probably better to go for drinks at the swanky floating bar and going celebrity spotting.

Had dinner there on a friday night, - food was generally very nice, seriously over priced and in some cases seriously over spiced. Chili sauce on the prawn was hotter than the surface of the sun, and singed my taste buds for the remainder of the meal. Service was ok, not amazing as previously suggested, and toilets are a trek and a half - walking boots recommended.
More of a posing opportunity than a good restaurant.

I have been to Cocoon a few times before but only for drinks. I loved the bar and knew I had to come back for dinner. My boyfriend took me to Cocoon for my 30th Birthday. He couldn't have chosen a better place! The setting is so romantic; I love the rose petals under the glass table top. The service was superb. Nathan, our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious.

I don't often venture into the West End, but this was a special occasion and the menu on the website sounded delicious. What a lovely evening, the food was lovely, the cocktails to 'die for' and the service was spot-on. Will definitely be going back!!
