I went along to Guesthouse West after reading the review in The Grove Magazine who raved about the food. They weren't wrong - they've moved on to the Winter menu but no matter since my lamb shank with basil mash, braised with a veal jus - was delicious. My friend had the sea bass with Alsatian savoy cabbage and peas - perfect creamy but sharp sauce. And have the Bailey's creme brulee - sounds a bit tacky but out of this word, really creamy and well done. It's about £20 for main and pufdding so pretty good value I think.

I popped in here prior to my 30th birthday afternoon tea party at the Tea Palace and had a quick glass of champagne to 'warm up'. Really liked the ambience of the place, big squishy leather sofa's and reasonably quiet without being dead for a late saturday afternoon. Thought it was also quite reasonable at £7.50 for a glass of fizz. Would have liked to have tried the food - maybe next time. Worth stopping by for a drink and a natter with friends though.
