Zigfrid's do a sort of bar food menu ... I had a halloumi burger (a huge slab of halloumi in bread) and my friend had chowder. The halloumi burger was OK and the chowder was alright (not much of it), the side order of wedges and dips was tasty, probably the best bit of the meal. Maybe we didn't pick the best things on the menu so I probably would give it another go. Plus, it is a great venue and it's always buzzing whenever you go.
I'd say it's an ideal place to load up on carbs prior to a Shoreditch drinking session or great for a hangover lunch.

Me and my friends decided to celebrate the beginning of a new term with a pub crawl in Brick Lane and Hoxton and ended up spending the whole night in Zigfrid. First we had a dinner in the restaurant area and were all licking the plates not because a student is always hungry, but because the food was well prepared. The portions were big and therefore good value for money. Afterwards we moved to those comfy sofas and as one of the bartenders kindly explained the whole cocktail list to the girls they had beaming smiles all over their faces while sipping daiquiris and mojitos in the candlelit atmosphere. The only annoying thing was the music that was turned up later on when the DJ started that made serious conversation almost impossible, but by that time we were all pretty tipsy and dropped the talk and danced until the DJ finished. We'll go back to Zigfrid for sure and I don't regret a single penny of my student loan spent in this bar.

they changed their menu in september and i had some of the best oysters ever there. they still have that fab burger on the menu but i had the bowl of house chili which was yummy and only cost £5! the service was actually ok. the waitress should have asked us if we wanted to taste our 2nd bottle of wine but apart from that she was friendly and helpful.

I've had a quick and cheap lunch there a few times and each time the food was fine. the best thing on the menu is the burger which is properly cooked (not burnt to a crisp) and now i notice they are using organic meat which is what more restaurants should be doing.

Without a doubt, the service in Zigfrid is the worst I have ever experienced. I recently went for lunch with a friend and we were treated shabbily by a rude barman with the sourest expression imaginable on his face, who even had the cheek to attempt to serve someone else ahead of me and 2 other people! After my friend arrived we ordered food at the bar and the staff's p*ss-poor attitude sank to even lower depths than I could ever have anticipated. We ordered a sandwich and a salad - how complicated could that possibly be?! 45 minutes and 4 complaints later we had to cancel our order and walk out in disgust. Despite the fact that we had been more than reasonable, not to mention polite, a concept completely unfamiliar to anyone behind the bar, they didn't even bother their backsides to apologise.
All in all, a perfectly vile and sickening experience. Go there only if you are the biggest masochist in the world and thrive on being treated like dirt by pathetic little poker-faced men.

Bad service is no surprise in Hoxton square but Z***** has it down to a tee. Some of the most disinterested bar staff i've ever seen spoil a great venue by creating huge waiting times for drinks.
Popular venue with many non-locals (mainly due to such poor service), has joined the "purple rope" and "silver tray" brigade as well losing its urban funky feel in favour of a pretentious west end wine bar. Worth a visit if you enjoy constantly being bumped into while trying to sip your bevvy and fifteen minute waits for a drink...otherwise i'd give it a miss..

Good place to go out and get mad, but only if you are prefered to wait 15min to get a drink. Not because bartenders would be busy, but because they need to chat to each other, talk on a mobile ect, ect. Slowest service ever!!!
