I went in to the Haven Green Ealing restaurant on the 3 December 2007 for a take away order near closing time - 3 plain rice, 1 egg fried rice, 2 Gai pad met ma muang (stir fried chicken with cashew nuts and spring onions) and 2 Nau pad met ma muan (stir fried beef with cashew nuts and spring onions).
Initially, I thought nothing about the way I had been hounded for prompt payment, and also the super speedy fashion I had been ushered out of the place that I almost left my food, shoes and socks behind. When I reached home, the disappointment when I ripped open the carrier bag was Oscar material. Firstly the sizes of the plastic containers were enough to get my blood pressure soaring. Not a good sight when you are starving. Was the restaurant penalising me for ordering take away instead of eating at their premises? Secondly, as if that wasn’t bad enough, the stir fried chicken and beef portions barely covered the base of the containers. I think I managed to count the meat, cashew nuts and spring onions on one hand. Scraping the barrel for £33.85 is beyond the joke, and would rather the manager have informed me about the lack of food available when I made my order. Next time you pop in for take away insist you see your food before you hand over your money otherwise you might take away less than you bargained for. I called the restaurant the following day but the Manager wasn’t available and hasn’t been available since. Says it all really!

Went a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with the service ,freshness and quality of the food. One or two dishes did appear bulked up but not a major issue.Nice atmosphere for a relaxed Sunday evening, would defintely go again except for one major gripe. According to the staff they do not receive any of the tips on card as with many places.Asking the staff member to remove it brought fear as apparently the management do not consider the service charge discretionary.Suffice to say i did not see the reason to leave another £ 18 tip.
Greedy management !!!!!!!!!.

Trading on past glories I'm afraid! I took some foodie friends here thinking that it would still be good and was really embarassed by the experience. The decor is still awful but the food, previously excellent, was poor too. A better Thai in the area is the Thai Bistro - again not what it was but still better than this dive.

I have been a loyal visitor of Fatboys in Haven Green, Ealing for some time. The food is still fabulous, however I am disappointed that despite its popularity they have decided to maximise profits further ,by adding extra 'bulking' ingredients to their dishes. My soup had a whole tomoato chopped in three at the bottom of it and my pak choi an entire layer of bean sprouts underneath it, only giving us 4 pieces.
It is a shame that they are lining their pockets at the risk of losing their regulars.

Read the previous reviews, so I took my three kids along for a treat as it was my birthday!
We sat outside and got a friendly service, food was served piping hot and the dishes were all nicely presented with good sized portions. Epecially important with ravernous teenage kids.
Very good value

'Fatboy's Cafe' is the best discovery I have made in a long time. A cafe serving english and continental breakfasts in the morning transforms into a lovely, intimate restaurant in the evening. Thai food, no correction, fantastic thai food is served from the afternoon till late evening and they also do take-aways. The chicken Pad Tai is the nicest I've had and the Green Curry is superb- they've got the consistancy of the sauce perfect. The prices are fantastic, especially considering the quality of the food; I would happily pay more! The staff are very attentive and friendly and I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
