The Abbey

The Abbey used to be my favorite place to get a burger in Camden. Went their recently and enjoyed sitting out in the garden. That was all we enjoyed though. I ordered a burger and my date had the caesar salad. The food arrived after more than 30 minutes: the chips were cold, the burger overcooked and dry (I'd requested medium rare) and cold on what looked like a Tesco-bought generic white bun. The Abbey used to offer a delicious juicy burger served on a cutting board; but I think I would prefer a Wetherspoons burger over the one I recently had at the abbey. My date's caesar salad came on wilted iceberg lettuce. The dressing had such a strong anchovy flavour that she couldn't eat it (and we love anchovies). The waitress could not have given us less thought - I had to go to the kitchen to get condiments after waiting 5 minutes for her to deliver them.
In addition, the San Miguel tasted skunked. Maybe the new ownership is still working out the kinks, but I will not eat there again. The food used to be very fresh and well presented. Too bad to see the quality fall so low, because the space is great.

I live very close to this pub, that's why I used to come quite often for a drink with friends or for a snack when don't feel like cooking myself.
It is a nice pub, a has a lovely garden and a roof terrace.
The food though is horrible. I used to have hamburgers, which were quite good, but for some reason over the last year the food just got worse and worse....I don't even know why it is classified as a gastro pub, when it serves standard food that you can have in any avarage pub. But yeah, they prices are like the ones of a gastro pub, they just need to realise the food isn't!.
Definitely a nice place JUST for a drink (specially if it's a music night, Sundays and Tuesdays I think) Although the beer is not excellent and they keep chaning waiters all the time and most of them have no clue have to poor a pint....
Last time I went this summer there was a horrible smell of rubbish in the garden.....as I said before, this place is nice but I'm afraid it lacks of good management , shame!.

This place is pretty good, I never really expect much from a gastro pub in terms of food, but I've eaten here of three occasions and I've never been dissapointed. It could be argued that it's a little over priced, but what gastro pub isn't?
The garden is great, but this place can definately find itself closer to a pub than a restaurant at the weekend with plenty of drinkers and a dj.
Worth a visit if you a near by.

This is a nice place and has good space. The beer garden is lovely and great for having some quiet drinks with friends on a nice summers eve. Although I praise them for having a good selection of Belgian beers, the prices are ridiculous (£4.40 for a Chimay Blue). Its just another arm of rip-off London prices - why is it that in Belgium I only pay £1.50 or less for the same beer? Food is also overpriced - the cheapest item on the menu (a simple bowl of fries) is £3 and they weren't even that great. Overall: nice place but rip off prices.
