Visited for an inclusive pre-theatre supper Saturday 31st October. The food is excellent (as usual, having eaten here many times before), but it all went very pear shaped!
It would seem that our order was mislaid, or does it really take 40 minutes to prepare soup as a starter?. My main course eventually arrived after another considerable wait and it was fine. My partners' was wrong. We had asked for a plain grilled steak, no sauces or enything else, but served simply with a salad. Guess what - it arrived with sauce, potato & no salad. It was taken back and arrived again exactly as before, but this time with the salad in a separate bowl, Back it went and this time it was presented correctly all the time whilst my own meal was left to get cold.
After this escapade, one would have hoped that the service and attention would be impecable, especially as I had by this time had considerable words with the staff! But no, my partners' desert, which we had requested served plain with no sauce etc had to be returned twice before it was correct.
Unfortunately the meal was pre-booked so consideration of payment was not possible. We were not even offer our 2 glsses of wine complimentary! OK, we had ordered and drunk them, so payment was required! There was no apologies from any staff when we left. I will ensure that their meal deal suppers are suspended through the theatre group concerned.
