Ferrari's (Balham High Rd)

We went last weekend and found the menu to be very well planned. We ordered from the specials menu and enjoyed every morsel!

I would recommend this restaurant to couples and families alike. Service was attentive and presentation of food was carefully thought out.

It was very good value for money, we actually thought it was cheap for the quality of the food. Will definitely go again.

Don't expect too much from this place - it's 'OK' but really nothing out of the ordinary, and the food could be improved.

I visited Ferrari's last night with a small group of friends for dinner and had the calamari and pancetta salad to start with. This wasn't too bad - the calamari was cooked very well and the portion size was generous - but it was swimming in olive oil, far too much, and there should have been lemon juice squeezed over the top to bring out the flavours, but this had been forgotten. I asked for a wedge of lemon to squeeze over myself, but this never appeared. For my main course I had the salmon and asparagus with pasta shells - again the portion size was generous and there was lots of salmon - but the dish was over salted and not very pleasant to eat, so I left most of it.

After food we ordered some more drinks, which never appeared, and when we asked for the bill it came with the missing drinks being charged onto it, along with a bottle of wine we had never ordered. We pointed out the mistake, which was rectified, but no apology or even an offer of a complimentary coffee (which most restaurants would have done). Finally, upon paying the bill, the waiter tried to overcharge us when inputting the amount onto the credit card machine!

The staff seemed friendly enough, and there was quite a pleasant environment, but the lack of attention to detail with serving, missing orders, food not cooked quite as it should be,and the bill fiasco make me rather reluctant to recommend it. More care and attention is needed to improve, in my opinion.

We recently moved to Balham and I was very excited to try what seemed to be a well-run restaurant with good food. We came away slightly disappointed. The food was average - just above average Italian fare. My chicken supreme was not cooked all the way through, which made it difficult to enjoy. An honest mistake - but the dish was still ruined by being overly oily, with the potatoes and veggies swimming a yellow lake. Like many average Italians, Ferrari's suffers from over-olive-oiling many of its dishes, leaving much of the food doused in too much fat. The service was not great either - we waited far too long to order as the waitor dutifully reset the table next to us then cleaned menus. I will certainly not be running to go back.

My friend first introduced to me ferraris a while back and since my introduction i have been on many occasions. The food there is sensational! I tend to stick to my usual order which is the calamarie salade with pacetta, which is just excellent. The portion sizes are very generous, expecially on the starters. So i order a starter portion for my main of seafood pasta. I would higher recommend going to ferraris to everyone for either a romantic evening, a birthday celebration or even a large party. The value for what you is get is brilliant, and i am always finding excuses to go there.

The music is not loud at all, and the service is fast and efficient, and the waiters are always very welcoming.

My husband and I went last Tuesday evening and had a wonderful meal for my birthday. the service was first class. food fantastic. My husband is a chef and he had no complaints. will recommend it to every one, and will go again soon.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Took my elderly mother and son today and the staff really looked after us, especially making sure my mother was comfortable and well looked after. Will definitely be going back.

We went to Ferrari's a few Sundays ago with the In-Laws and wanted a laid back, yet efficient place to eat - time being the of the essence...and it didn't disappoint.

We opted for the Sunday lunch special - 3 courses for £13.95 which was pretty good value for the area and there were a few old faves such as Prawn Cocktail and Soup of the Day on the menu - slightly retro but pleasing to see nonetheless. The roast was excellent, with perfectly cooked veggies - crunchy, not soggy and superbly cooked crispy roast potatoes. For dessert I opted for the mouth watering tiramisu - a very generous portion.

I would rate the experience as great overall - the food was delicious and the service was good - if a bit rushed and maybe too efficient - if there has to be a negative. I didn't notice any banging music or struggling to hear myself in the venue, so Sundays at Ferrari's is something to experience...

I went to Ferraris last weekend for my anniversary. Friday night, and the service was great - fast and friendly!!!

The food was very well prepared and full of flavour without being overcomplicated.

We had a lovely evening and will definitely be going back. I think its going to be our new 'local'.

I didn't notice the music - which means it couldn't have been that bad!

Took my parents to Ferarri's recently and, although we've been there many times before, we won't be going back again.

No faulting the food, which was absolutley delicious, but the service was apalling. We had to ask for someone to take our order, our starters came before our wine, we had to wait over 30mins between starter and main, we had to ask to order desserts and our desserts took an age to come.

We were also served by approximately 6 different staff throughout the evening, so no consistency. Not what I expect from a restaurant that, let's face it, is positioning itself as slightly more upmarket than other local Italians.

One last point to mention was the music - why do they think playing house music and levels where you can't hear yourself think, let alone speak, is a good idea? The bass was reverberatting thhrough my chair - so don't go there if you want to be able to talk to your fellow diners.

A big disappointment from somewhere that is usually OK. Won't be going back.
