I have visited Bella Vista on numerous occasions and I have never ever had a bad meal it is an absolute joy to find somewhere where the staff are attentive yet not obtrusive and the food is superb, there is always something different on the menu and the seafood is fantastic.
A real gem of a place for Blackheath.

I have visited Bella Vista on several occassions and never been disspointed .
The prices, quality of food, service and ambience are excellent. The staff are attentive without being obtrusive.
The choice and variety of meals and wines is good and everchanging.
In fact, this is a refreshing contribution to Blackheaths restaurant scene. Its run like a family run Restaurant. I will be back.

I had heard such wonderful things about this restaurant but unfortunately it came nowhere close to what I thought it would be.
The staff seemed quite shocked to see two women, obviously in a relationship, walk in together and sit down for dinner which was quite humorous but they really could ahve done a little more to hide it I think..
Food whilst good was nothing spectacular
Service certainly left alot to be desired, our waitress was abrupt and quite rude. When my partner ordered another beer it was just plonked on the table and not poured even though her glass was empty.. We had to chase them to order our meals even though it was clearly a slow night as the restaurant was mostly empty etc etc etc etc..
Menu did have a good selection of meals to chose from though.
there is a great little italian place a few doors up that we have been to before and we will definitely be going back there rather than back to BV again.

This place has long been a local favourite of the wife's for those weekday evenings when neither of us can be bothered to cook, but I'm afraid that our last couple of visits have been ruined by the abysmal service, and I doubt that we'll be returning.
Food here is generally OK - certainly no worse (possibly even a little better) than you would expect from any moderately-priced, generic Italian. The menu is overlong, implying either an enormous amount of wastage or (more likely, I suspect) a high degree of freezing, pre-cooking and reheating. Quality does not particularly suffer as a result, however.
I have to take issue with the atrocious, however, which is some of the slowest anywhere. There is one specific waiter who is particularly bad (I won't name names, but just don't sit in the smoking section!), but you'll more than likely spend most of the evening waiting around regardless of who is serving you. I've twice had to forego dessert and coffee (meaning that I left hungry, which is never a recommendation for a restaurant) because my 8pm dinner was still only halfway through at 10.30pm.

Having recently been to Bella Vista and then coincidently coming across this site i thought i would leave my few words.
I have been coming to Bella Vista for the past 9-10 years and have never had any problems with the food or service. The menu is always superb, changes regularly and also has weekly specials. The service is very attentive and helpful without being over the top, they leave you in peace. I also like the fact that they do not tell you when you can book - like some restaurants that want to fit in 2-3 sittings in an evening.
On this occasion we hadn't booked a table but took a chance as it was a Saturday night. After looking through their bookings we were informed that a table would be available within 15 minutes and we could have a drink at the bar while we waited. Although the bar area is small you don't feel too out of place waiting there.
The table was indeed ready within 15 minutes and after sitting we ordered a bottle of red wine that arrived at the perfect temperature.
Our starters arrived and my girlfriend was blown away with her starter of the Risotto Di Mare - full of mussels, clams, squid and prawns. My Salmon Fishcakes were also excellent. Our main courses were both top class too - i went for the Stinco Di Agnello Brassato (braised lamb shank) which was superb, a real explosion of tastes. My girlfriend had Spigola Al Burro e Lemoni (pan fried sea bass) which she reported was also fantastic. I can say she was right as i tried some!
For us this is one of those places where you just have to taste each others dishes!
The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and service that is received and i would recommend Bella Vista to anyone.
They also have a private room upstairs which can be booked at no extra charge if there is a large party.
