I was in this restaurant with my boyfriend last Sunday , we had starters pastila of chicken and Samboussek djej , which are very tasty and TOUAREG MESHWI delicious ... but it was too much food for us :D ; and after dinner we enjoyed the best shisha in Soho , a very good combination of grapes, melon and mint.
very good service , very good shisa , very good food , very good belly dancer , very good place in Soho .
we gone come back Maison Touareg !!!

I was at Maison Touareg 2 weeks ago with a couple of friends, really enjoyed the whole experience. Great food and excellent service. Will definitely be going back for the Lamb meshwi which was very impressive.

i was very surprised to read such disappointing reviews at maison touareg as we had a fantastic time. we had dinner with 6 friends on saturday night and all of my guests thoroughly enjoyed it. the atmosphere was buzzing with friendly staff. the food was very tasty and not pretentious as some place try to be. very reasonable at around £30 per person including wine. the belly dancer was a delight to watch also.
will recommend and will definitely be going back.

Quite simply one of the worst meals out I have had in London.
Maison Toureg is a strange combination of abominable service and bland, uninteresting food. We were kept waiting with a consistancy that was bordering on intentional. Drinks took hours to arrive if they ever did, food was served disproportionally throughout the table with no consideration given to dietary requirements. End result was that the majority of the party left the restaurant hungry and thirsty.
The food itself was bland at best. The chicken tagine tasted like a badly made chicken stew without a hint of the flavours you would expect, the vegetable tagine tasted awful. This place is about as authentic as their belly dancer, avoid at all costs.

having passed many times i decided to try it last time..
i had tagine, lamb i think it was, chicken pastille and lemonade.
well i must say that i was not surprised by the quality. tagine is suppose to be very strong flavours and was rather boring. totally boring...
pastilla chicken was nice. but nothing to remember really. the bitter lemonade was nice...
i will not return i am afraid to this place... just to plain. service was ok. i have no complains about it. but food was expensive and not great.

We used a LS voucher for this establishment. Reasonable value with the voucher but otherwise somewhat over priced. Belly dancer was there for 20 minutes and whilst not that busy I'm sure she was happy with the payment she received.
Service was good but seriously we got the impression this outlet more suited tourists rather than people who eat out in their city a couple of times a month. I'd have to say we'd not return as there are many places offering better food of the same type with better atmosphere and value for money

I made a reservation at this restaurant on Saturday evening for a group of 6 friends, to celebrate a birthday. As this was a special occasion, I called in during the afternoon to confirm my reservation and select my table for dinner.
Upon arriving at the restaurant at our reservation time of 8pm, I was greeted by two of my friends outside, informing me that our reservation had been cancelled.
I spoke with the manager who was unapologetic and simply said that his sheet said they'd left a message for me. Upon checking, I discovered that the message had been emailed to at 7.46pm, only 14 minutes before my reservation time.
The manager was abrupt, inconsiderate and frankly couldn't give a stuff that this had completely ruined our evening. He suggested a sister restaurant nearby but made no effort at all to rectify the situation in a professional manner, nor could he offer a reasonable explanation for the cancellation.
I can only assume that another party of 6 turned up at the restaurant and they simply gave the table to them. I highly recommend that this restaurant be avoided unless you simply feel like dropping in on the off chance that a reserved table is given up and you're not bothered about spoiling the evening for other people.
Reading the reviews below, I am confident we didn't miss anything and very pleased that our last minute plan B choice of Souk Medina in Covent Garden was of superior quality.

APPALLING! This so called restaurant has to be one of the worst I've ever set foot in.
Clearly benefitting from the foot fall in the middle of Soho and Old Compton Street which provides a buoyant flow of customers who are unaware of the horrendous food that lies within.
Maison Touareg is truly ghastly. The service is appalling, the food is very poor quality and the smell from the toilets is enough to put you off your food if the taste doesn't.
Terrible service, rude, lazy, unattentive and very slow.
Larger group bookings seem to get more attention so if you're dining as a couple, expect to be at the back of the queue.
I would not recommend this restaurant and can only imagine it survives through one time customers who are fooled by the kitsch and tacky Lebanese/ North African exterior and the promise of a mouth watering tagine!
Stay away.

This was the best Moroccan restaurant I have tried so far! Absolutely great food and service. The atmosphere was fab, full of life, but at the same time lovely and relaxing. Belly dancer was a nice surprise! Will definitely return!

Disappointing night at this restaurant. Was in a party of 25 and we were crammed in between two smaller parties on the basement floor. Food took ages to be served especially between courses and there was not enough to go around, although what we did have was very nice. Extra dishes were brought to the table after our plates had been cleared! Manager only offered us a 'doggy bag' to take extra food away. A reduction on the bill or service charge was requested (set menu meal was £25 per head + 12.5% service) but flatly refused by the manager. Entertainment (belly dancer and drummer) was fun. Certainly won't be returning to this restaurant.
