I went to La Perla last week to celebrate a friends 50th birthday and as always the service was impeccable and the food very reasonable priced at an excellent standard. My starter of green asparagus was cooked to perfection and my main dish penne abriatta was spicy and delicious. I would recommend this cosy restaurant to anyone who enjoys Italian food!

I was taken to La Perla for my birthday meal there was six of us in total and I had always wanted to try the Ravioli as this seemed the only Italian restaurant where it was on the menu. The staff were very friendly and polite and well turned out too. There was lots of delicious hot bread to munch whilst we were waiting for our course which was plentiful and delicious and we had two bottles of wine along with water as well. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and we stayed there quite late and no pressure to leave. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone even though the bill came to £200.00 which we did think was a tad pricey considering what we had.

I first went to La Perla about 12 or 13 years ago on recommendation with my husband. We have had both long relaxed meals that have lasted all evening (we have never been hurried out of the door so that they can lay the table for another meal - the table has been ours from 6pm until at least 11.30 without any bother) and quick snacks (in, ate and out in 30 minutes) on our way to or from the theatre. My husband died in 2004 and it took a deep intake of breath to go there on my own.....I should never have worried, the staff were as pleased to see me on my own as they were when I went with my husband. The food has always been excellent, but if there's ever anything worng or if you're not satisfied tell them, they will always try to accommodate you. This is a little family run Italian restaurant that is one of London's gems. Do yourself a favour....go there....try it for yourself.....and I bet you'll be as hooked as I am....!!

La Perla impressed us immediately, Beautifully presented with staff impeccable and attentive. It was a hot afternoon and my feet were aching from walking. I was rejuvenated here. The food and wine were wonderful and the atmosphere welcoming, friendly and relaxing. I wanted for nothing such was the level of service. It was so nice to marvel at the quality of the food whilst listening to everyone chatting in Italian. Always a good sign if Italians go there to eat and they do. The price was very reasonable. We had two courses each, Wine, water and Coffee for £50. Everything was excellent and I had my photo taken outside. I would definately recommend this restaurant.

I absolutely loved this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone.
We visited London for my birthday and wanted to eat somewhere with a good atmosphere, good food and overall gave real value for money (not too much to ask then!) we stumbled on La Perla and were very happy we did.
As lovers of italian food our standards are pretty high and we found the portions to be generous, full of flavour and good value. There were three of us and we each had three courses as well as 2 bottles of wine and after dinner liquors and it came to about £100. The staff were really friendly and considering we turned up at a peak time on a Friday night without a reservation when they were really busy they did their upmost to accommodate us and we were in no way rushed through dinner (i've been to some places where they serve you three courses in the space of 30 minutes)
There's a good range of pizzas pastas and "meat and vegatable" courses catering for all tastes and for those with lighter appetities they offer starters as main course dishes.
Overall a great restaurant that i would recommend to anyone

I went for dinner at the restaurant because I walk passed it almost everyday on the way from work and I absolutely LOVE Italian food!
It was fantastic! The food was fabulous! Generous portions and so tasty! We each has a main meal plus veggies on the side and a dessert. A bottle of wine between us as well as port each after dessert. I had a veal and my partner had a steak! Both absolutely gorgeous and I am in fact going there again for Valentine's Day because I thought it was THAT good! Relaxed and cosy atmosphere and really helpful staff too!

I really can't understand all the good reviews below!?
Before I went to this restaurant, as far as Italian food was concerned I thought it was really difficult to mess up. WRONG!
Me and my friend popped into this place in search for a nice italian dinner. From a start place looked promising, little, cosy and with welcoming staff. But that was it really.
We ordered main courses, my friend had seafood pasta and I had porcini gnocci.
Let me tell you this was the worst meal I ever had in Italian restaurant. No offence to its charming staff.
I am not a foodie, far from it, but Gnocci were massively overcooked, and tomato sauce looked even worse then the one you can buy in Tesco. Some dry mushrooms and dried parsley on top to conclude the dish. Didn't look appetising and tasted even worse. My friend didn't have any clams in her spaghetti, just tomato sauce with ...yes...some dried parsley. Our sauces were identical, tasted of starch, definitely from the jar and definitely not the best quality. I even got the impression it was all re-heated in microwave, but of course I wouldn't know for sure. A guy next to us had risotto, and I felt really sorry for him, seeing him digging into grey clampy goo of rice.
Bill came at 23 pounds for our two mains, plus one bottle of water. Considering the quality of food that was scandalous.
So to conclude, this restaurant is a rip off with a smiley service.

I have to agree with Peter below. It is not that this place is bad although it is cetainly not good. I just could not believe the size of the bill (even after they added it up correctly because they got it wrong the first time. Too high surprisingly). Also agree that the wine is grossly overpriced and the waiter's recommendation was really poor. I asked for a dry white and got something that tasted like sugary water.

Food was good without being special. An excellent Valpolicella. Very friendly and helpful. A nice place to eat for the non-occasion.
