The Mahajara restaurant on Denman street is one of the best indians I ahve ever had
It has everything: delicious food, fast and friendly staff and a very cosy and relaxed atmosphere.
The curry I tried was perfect to me, and the cook even catered for the individual tasted of my son and my friends (who don't like food as hot as i do). It was very tasty and great quality, and the manager even threw in a couple of free beers which was very generous of him.
My friends and family loved it and I will definitely be returning there the next time I am in London

Last week my wife and I went to see Grease At the Piccadilly theatre(which was an amazing show, esp with Ray Quinns profermance) Afterwards we were highly recommended the restaurant 'Marharaja Tandoori' next door by the staff of the theatre.
As soon as we entered, we were greated in an extremly friendly manner by a very young looking gentleman who later turned out to be the owner, or the owners son or I thinks its his now, anyway it does'nt matter.
As soon as we sat down he made us feel right at home and gave me the impression that i had been coming here for years as the restaurant has been there for twenty years.
This was are first time there so i wasn't familiar with the menu or what good so i put all my trust in the young man and he live up to all my expectations. Now i highly recommend there Lamb Korma, which was lovely and soft, the tandoori chops which could quite possiblebly the best chops my wife and I have ever tasted and finally the veg side dishies he recommend really complemented the meal.
Through out our meal the young man kept a good eye on us- when ever our wine was low he top it up as well as asking us if every thing was alright, which I love, it just makes me feel at home and as if he actually cares rather than just doing his job.
To top of the night, after a great meal we saw the young man performing some close up magic on some of his regular customers. We asked him nicely and he was only to happy to entertain us with his David Blaine style card tricks which my wife could not get enough of.
What a night, great show, amazing food and service, and lets not forget the magic waiter which really just made the night for us. Now I wish I got his name.
There is no Indian restaurant experience like this in Oxford.
We will be dining at the Maharaja Tandoori for now on every time we are in London. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for to enjoy a nice Indian Meal in a friendly environment.
I only hope that the young man has got some new tricks for us next time we come down.
10 out of 10.

My favourite Tandoori just down the road the Regent Tandoori (no 10) had to close because the landlord is rebuilding. So, very disappointed, I went to this one in the hope of it at least being as good. Sadly not a patch with regard to taste. Service and cleanliness fine. Still need to find a replacement..

I must say I'm very surprised to read certain reviews of this restaurant that praise the service. On our recent visit we found the service to be appalling. The staff were bad enough but the overbearing owner seemed to take positive delight in behaving rudely towards customers.
As for the food, the Chicken Tikka was bland and tasteless and the Lamb Curry was as tough and unpalatable as the owner's attitude towards the clientele. We were constantly pestered to order more drinks and exhorted to order extra (unnecessary) dishes. The prices are also far higher than (better) local alternatives. However, to be fair, my wife did enjoy her vanilla ice cream.
There are plenty of decent Indian restaurants in the Soho area. We shall not be returning to this Fawlty Towers again.

The best curry house right at the very back of the busy pleasures of Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus and not forgetting the ever busy but wonderful Leicester Square and Covent Garden, not to mention Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross of course, which are also near by, but right in the very heart of Soho and all it has to offer. A perfect place to go and unwind if you are going to see the wonderful musical known as Grease which the Piccadilly theatre where it is shown is right next door to the restaurant before or after the musical.
Compliments especially to the waiting staff for their gentle courteous manner and for their warm hearts and to the chefs and kitchen porters for cooking the most delicious Chicken Curry and Rice with a naan bread which is my upmost pleasure whilst visiting the Maharaja.
So if you are feeling in the mood for a curry before or after a busy but wonderful day in the pleasures of that part of London (referring to locations listed above) or a busy and hectic morning at the workhouse and fancy a curry lunch and also feeling high after listening to Danny & Sandy (from Grease) sing their tonsils off and fancy sitting back to relax a little and fancy a curry before home or exploring the nightlife, the Maharaja Tandoori is the place for you, where kindly hearted waiters await your pleasure and to make your visit worthwhile and the feeling that you will wanna visit the restaurant over and over again and again and again.
I shall be darkening the doors of the Maharaja for this forseeable future, once again well done and keep up the good work!

Maharadja became our favourite Indian restaurant in London.
Whenever we go to London we make sure to reserve in advance. We always take the Chicken Tikka Masala and Cheese Naan, our favourite dish.
Waiters are always very helpful and guests are a mix of local people and tourists.
