Nando's (Soho)
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
We were introduced to Nando's by a friend whose 3 children all have various allergies. My own son is a Celiac, and we have found it increasingly difficult to take him out to eat, as he is in danger of gluten exposure by uninformed and careless staff. We are limited to fries and a sundae at a certain takeaway restaurant, and have not been out as a family since my son was diagnosed nearly 5 years ago! I am therefore pleased to announce that we finally have a place to go! Nando's not only has a fully comprehensive food allergies book, but actually knows the difference between 'gluten free' and 'suitable for Celiacs'! [And 'No', those are not the same. The staff have always been so helpful and even willing to create things slightly 'off menu' for our little boy, and the food is so very tasty, that now, whatever city we're in, whoever we are with, as long as they have a Nando's, we feel like we're in Heaven! For the first time in his young life, my son can order off the menu in a restaurant and feel 'normal' when we're out! There are issues with individual staff or restaurants, no matter the chain, but the friendliness, helpfulness & preparedness of the staff at Nando's deserves high praise indeed!
