Nando's (Soho)

I had visited Nandos, in Colchester. My partner ordered our meal, including a childrens veggie burger at £3.99. The waiter made the mistake of putting it through as an adult meal and asking my partner what salad he wanted on the side. Prompted by the waiter, my partner assumed that you get a salad with the child's meal and requested the Caesar Salad as indicated by the waiter. He paid the waiter and bought the receipt back to me. I noticed the mistake in good time before our meal arrived and straightaway alerted staff, who bought a senior to the front desk. I said I would like the order changed and the full-price adult Caesar Salad removed.
I politely said I wanted to pay £3.99 for my child's meal, not £9.10 (a toddler won't eat two adult sized dishes let alone one). In normal circumstances, I expected that the staff should simply apologize and change the meal, and refund the difference. HOWEVER the senior member of staff insisted, rudely that this would not be possible and he would not refund my money as the salad had "already been made" (a measly pile of lettuce with 4 croutons and a bit of cheese on top, I bet that was hard work to create). Bear in mind that all this took place well BEFORE the meals were bought to us. It was an uncomfortable experience for me and I did not want to cause a scene in the front of the restaurant as it was my partners birthday and our young daughter was hungry, also I had already paid the bill and this member of staff had given me the clear impression that in any case I would not be getting a refund. The whole thing was embarrassing.
During the meal (which was not great) we were asked by three separate waiters if everything was OK and on all three occasions I said I was unhappy with having to pay for a mistake made by a member of staff and still nothing was done about it. Strangely, we were also asked by the waiter who had served my partner and made the offending mistake in the first place. He asked if it was all OK and I said clearly that it wasn't, I even showed him the mistakes (which HE made) on the receipt and said I had had no refund. In my experience of both eating out and of working in customer services AND restaurants, this falls considerably way below my customer expectations. To be treated like this is unacceptable. It ruined the last night of our visit to Colchester. The meal came to £32.35 which was not reflected by the quality of service we got. I complained in writing soon after and received no reply. Not recommended.

Nandos is such a great alternative to other restaurants in london because you order your food like you are in a pub and pay before rather than after you eat which means you avoid all the waiting for the waiter to catch your eye to order, having to wait for the waiter to come over then wait for the food etc. i prefer it that way anyway! plus you know exactly how much your meal is before you eat it- so no need to worry you wont have enough cash!
The chicken is great, quarters or halves of chicken i find a bit greasy so i normally go for a burger or salad instead, still very tasty.
and I'm very pleased to say they have expanded their vegetarian selection!!!
Their bean burgers are tasty and now the cheese and msuhroom burger is just SOOOOO tasty!
If you like a little bit of spice but not too much go for the spicy chips- yum!
Soft drinks are re-fillable. What more could you want??!
Even the toilets in these restaurants are really nice.
The only criticism i would have is the layout of some of the seating in Nandos. i dont like being seated on a long bench next to other people but would rather have a more intimate dinner with my own chair where i can chat to my friends without being over heard by the person sharing my personal space!!
Top chain of restaurants though :-D

I ahve attended this particular nandos on several occasions, but on the 3rd Feb i went along and was greeted by a very cheerful chap, who was very tentative to my needs, showing me to my table, ensuring i was comfortable etc, i questioned why i had not been given the ususal Cockeral with a number on , and he replied that Nandos were taking a new view on caring for thier customers, they wanted a more personal touch. this i found very reassuring, because it made me realise that they had actually been think ing about the customers and how they would llike to be greeted and cared for whist enjoying a delicou=iuos meal, which was what i had, an absoloultly great meal as per usual.
thank you Nandos on frith Street for being so attentive and making tha Nandos experience even better than usual

We had a meal at Nando's Southbank this evening, having eaten at the other Nando Restuarants in the London area this one which is the flagship store is by far the best, for excellent tasty food, great service and atmosphere, and last but not least value for money.
Highly recommended for chicken lovers. Yeeeeah.

Nando's is fantasic!! They sell the BEST chicken ever! It's called Peri-Peri which is Portuguese and it's delicious! You can have it in various heats from Lemon and Herb to the really hot one - Extra Hot!
They're just opened a new restaurant on Southbank next to Vinopolis which is absolutely amazing! Really beautiful, it's built under the railway arches, we went at the weekend and had a great meal, over looking St Pauls! Very reasonably priced too!
