I am the head chef in Italian restaurant in london and very seldom go to other places to have the meal, today I was for a shopping with my wife in kingly street and she saw very colourful restaurant and we went for dinner. The owner is master chef and the food he cooked for us it was not just food, it was a piece of art, Great place, great service and wonderful food.

Really can't understand some of these reviews. Have visited the restaurant three times now and have always found the food to be excellent trying different things each time. Whilst some of the staff are not fully fluent with English if they haven't understood something they have asked for help. Always friendly and courteous. The manager has been very attentive making sure we have had everything we need, The lamb is so tender it falls off the bone and plenty of potato. Will be visiting again when we return to London.

Absolutely rubbish!!

Had a meal there, the waitress who was suppose to serve us was out smoking and actually asked us to wait for her to finish her cigarette!!

This was just the beginning, she wrote our orders on a piece of paper just like the way it was written on the menu, but after waiting for a long time, one of the orders wasn't the one it should've been, and the food was cold!

I ordered a glass of chardonnay, they said they just serve it in bottle, so we changed it to something else and she came back and said they don't have it anymore, she didn't suggest us to have something else instead.

The food was bad, service awful, and at least they should've apologised!!

If you want to waste your money and you like to have poor quality food and horrible service then you should go to this place. the waitress obviously did not understand english very well. She didn't know what was on the menu and couldn't understand what we wanted as a result she got one of the orders wrong and one of us had to wait after everyone has finished and then eat. The quality of food was terrible. It was cold and simply not good.

This restaurant is a hidden gem and you should make sure you try it as the food is fantastic. The decoration and atmosphere is lovely. We have used this restaurant a few times now as a couple and as a larger group and cannot understand the negative comments, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the prices good and the food is awesome !

I tend to go for the fish as it has always been pefectly cooked and my wife always insists on the lamb shank which just falls off the bone. My daughter Zoe who as a teenager is a renowned fussy eater ( usually happy to feast on McDonalds or KFC) is always happy with something from the menu which is cooked exactly as she likes it.

We are tee total so cannot comment on the wines etc but the cappachinos are to die for.

The manager is very helpful and has a smile for all.

We will be back next time we are visiting the theatres in london for sure. It has now become our pre theatre restaurant

We discovered the restaurant by accident behind Liberty as we were wandering in Carnaby street. We enjoyed the atmosphere and their fish dishes. Reasonably priced and friendly service. We'll go again when we visit London.

Looking for somewher quiet and a bit out of the way (difficult in Soho) to eat last Thursday evening. My boyf works near The Red Onion and was keen to try it. First and most certainly the last time to The Red Onion.

Sat down - spotted that the cheapest bottle of wine in there is about £16 - for a glass, the cheapest is £4.20. Ummed and ahhed about the menu - decided it was too pricey so opted for the meal deal - 2 courses for £15 I think (3 for £17). WIne arrived - middling to meh. Not tasty. First course arrived - supposed to be mixed meze type affair. Ice cream scoops of random gak decorated with quarter tomatoes didn't go down too well. The little pastry and 1 black olive were OK though.

Main meal - I had chicken kebab, he had lamb kleftico with mashed potato. To be fair, my chicken was tasty - again, there was that quartered tomato and hand ripped iceburg! His lamb was good, but postage stamp sized mashed 'tatoe was pointless.

Time to pay! Hmm. The bill came to £43 - we slapped down a card to pay. Enter rude waitress - gesticulates and huffs that there's A BIG SIGN IN THE WINDOW SAYING CASH ONLY. We say we didn't see the big sign - can we please pay by card - otherwise what else do you suggest. I trot to the front door to search for said BIG SIGN - there is a sign, but it's small... very small and it's taped to the inside of the open doors. Unless you're searching for it, you aint gonna see it. Things go from bad to worse - she gesticulates at the boss that we're being nuisances - he gesticulates back that we must be stupid and launches his way over to us. He starts shouting at us infront of other guests that there's a BIG SIGN etc. Unfortunately, as a female I wasn't allowed a word in edgeways. My boyf attempted to get his attention, but he was on one. Incredibly aggressive - standing over the table hollering at us. Boyf tried to find out how we could settle - we were waiting for something along the lines of "Sorry that you didn't see the sign. There's a cash point around the corner. Maybe a free coffee will make up for things".

The point here is - we were happy (OK, well not happy, as it was overpriced) to pay - he just needed to accept that it wasn't obvious that their chip and pin wasn't working when we walked into the place and sat down.

I've put 4 for the service as a couple of the other staff were fine. The manager has a chip - or a small pile of mashed potato - on his shoulder and seems unable to address women properly (?) Wouldn't recommend unless you want to see a neanderthal in action and be over-charged for meh food.

Sorry... rubbish. Food was tasteless, overpriced cider was flat, cream for the coffee seperated in the cup so sent it back, just rubbish. Was so hungry and walked out of there feeling forty quid lighter and still hungry as I had to eat around my pasta sauce as it was just horrible. Just don't bother.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Romantic atmosphere (because of the exotic lamps), friendly service, wide menu, delicious food, and reasonable prices. And it's neither too full or too empty.

The only negative is that like at most restaurants, they tend to forget to bring the requested tap water until being reminded (they don't mind doing so though).
