I went to Alaphabet with a group last night. Great bar, good atmosphere. My only gripe - I was told they serve food which was one of the reasons I decided to go there, however when we went to the bar to place an order at 9pm or just before, we were told the kitchen was closed.
A little disappointing as we had 20 very hungry people!

Booked the venue for a Christmas bite and drinks with some clients. Had looked at the web site before hand and was impressed with the menu on offer. Not up to restaurant standard but good for a bar none the less. I phoned and made sure that the menu on the site would be on offer on the day as to which the reply came a firm and resounding yes. How embarrassed was I upon commencement of the meal! The menu was presented on small bits of paper and had a basic and limited selection pate/soup/nacho type affair..It would not have been so bad if the pate did not come up that fine mix of pink and grey colours, the bread served with the soup burnt round the edges and the nachos offered in a bowl the size of a thimble. Mains was equally uninspired..Granted the ability to mix a cocktail was good and as the day wore on to evening the venue began to get far more busy. I just would have liked a bit more honesty from a venue when booking and if food is going to be served at least get it presentable. My advice..If you fancy a nice cocktail, fine..If you wish to eat something, go elsewhere.
