on my recent trip to london, we decided to visit hush, i was bittely disapointed to have been given a seat under the stairs, even though the place was quiet........... service was slow, staff were rude..... no ohne asked if everything was ok.. i felt as if it was a hassle to have us there. only 2 of us! so the following night we had a party for 12 booked, and straight away we cancelled... they didnt seem to care....

Good quality brasserie style food. One of the worst service in Mayfair. The Manageress - (i think with a new zealand accent) should understand that the customers pay her wages. Lack of personality doesn't help at all.

Outstanding Service
We hosted a client for 55 ppl in the Zanibar Room. The night of the event was brilliant. The Event Manager, Richard was extremely proactive and took any strain I may have been carrying before the festivities onto his shoulders. The staff on duty were extremely attentive in refilling our champagne glasses and the quality of service during the silver service was outstanding. The decor in the Zanzibar Room is one of the prettiest I've seen in London - a colourful Moroccan theme with authentic Moroccan pottery in which the food was served. Our wine glasses never reached below the half way mark.
All of our requests were fulfilled throughout the evening.
Disappointments -I was slightly disappointed in the starters and sides and also thought the veggie main could have been more creative than a veggie "pie". In the past the veggie option coincided with the Moroccan theme (lentil tangine). The lamb main course was so tender and flavourful it made up for my side dish disappointments. In all fairness Moroccan cuisine is not known for its side dishes anyway. Additionally during the pre-event organisation I found the co-ordinator a bit lax so I was a bit concerned.
Hush will even accommodate any kosher requests. Richard informed me of this during the evening when he noticed one of our guests was not touching the food. I was sorry to tell him that I was told quite the opposite when booking - instead I had been told that I would have to find an outside caterer and make the arrangements myself! Due to timing and the difficulty in finding a Kosher caterer who would deliver one meal I was unsuccessful but our guest still was happy to attend. Richard was very apologetic and assured me he would resolve the misunderstanding with his day staff. In the past I’ve also received a follow up call from the Co-ordinator which this time I did not. It’s always nice to receive those type of calls. I am a bit surprised we didn’t after the misinformation given regarding the Kosher meal.
Suggestions - perhaps soft Moroccan gnawa or Berber music to go along with the theme would make the vibe even nicer.
I would certainly consider this again for any corporate event. Zanzibar Room is the way to go!

What sort of "chef" want to serve such a horrible food?
If you want to find out go to Hush. You can have a great steak or just a piece of beef cooked without any care in the world and then served in a pool of it's own juices and not even seasoned. If I was the owner I'll ask the chef if he ever gives a sh-t about what he serves out of the kitchen. A good restaurant is meant to be a reflection of the chef's attitudea nd care towards food - sadly not the case at hush.
It was on a quiet thursday lunch april 26th that we went there - for the last time I quess.

We made the most of this great location and ate outside in the sun. The service was good but the food was nothing special - very little flavour and un-inspiring menu, not least when you consider the price.

I visited hush just last week, with no idea about the place, so therefore no expectations, and i have to say i was pleasantly surprised! Overall the atmosphere was great, loud and busy, just the place you wanna go on a Thursday night before you head out. The food was good, nothing special, as were the #########, but the service i have to say was brilliant. As busy as they were the waiter who served us was relaxed and fun, as well as being very attentive, which made our evening even more enjoyable! For this reason alone i would definately be back! If you are after a fun, nothing too fancy and good night, go here..

Went to Hush with the 30% discount offer. Food was ok, nothing amazing. Service was quite bad really. They forgot to offer us bread like they had to all of the other tables even when they brought us our soup starter. The main course came immediately after the starter as we 'had to be out by 8.15pm'. Then we were presented with a dessert menu and completely ignored for the next half an hour. We finally got our dessert which was very small for the money and not really worth waiting for. I was also unhappy with the seating arrangements. The place was less than half full and yet they had seated four couples in a row, each less than a foot apart. It was hardly intimate!

A bit pricey for January but with a choice of discounts it's not that bad. Still the place is almost full on daily basis, and the food it is good too. Whole artichoke, well cooked venison and very good fishcake. Wine list large enough. I guess it's not easy to find decent waiters though...

Hush is another of those achingly trendy bar/restaurant/brasserie places. Hidden away just off Bond Street, the bar is a popular post-work venue and it was absolutely heaving on a Thursday night. After a quick drink, we headed downstairs to the brasserie. Incidentally, the main restaurant is upstairs next to the bar, which I can only imagine is outrageously noisy, as the whole venue is open plan. For such a physically enormous menu, there wasn’t that much choice – 5/6 options under the categories of starters, salads, rice/pasta, fish, meat, but none that really grabbed your attention. Around the table, the starters we had were whole artichoke, pumpkin risotto and a meze plate. The risotto was unexpectedly good – well cooked and correctly seasoned. The meze plate was surely one of the strangest mix of ingredients on a plate – aubergine caviar, crispy seaweed, stuffed vine leaves etc. Most odd. Odder than the numbers 1, 3, 5 and 7 dancing around dressed as the village people but, controversially, in the middle of a city. The main courses were venison with braised red cabbage and, if I remember rightly, a cranberry jus, the famed Hush burger, haddock and cod fishcake with a parsley sauce and some kind of sea bream concoction. The venison was average – the meat itself was inadequately seasoned, while the other parts of the dish were bordering on salty. [Rant on] There is a reason why chefs do this. Chefs are hesitant about seasoning meats/fish before cooking because it draws out the moisture. Fine – I agree. The problem is too many chefs are not seasoning meat at all, but seem to think that is OK in a well-seasoned sauce. It doesn’t work. [Rant off] Most shocking was the price. £24.50 for a highly ungenerous portion and red cabbage. The pricing generally seemed a bit eclectic. You either spend c.£12 on a main course of c.£23. There is no middle ground. Anyway, the rest of the main courses looked nice enough. Desserts were OK. Standard brasserie banter – chocolate fondant, sticky toffee pudding etc. I would love to know what proportion of restaurants has a chocolate fondant on its menu. I’d be surprised if it was under 50%. It really is a slag of a dessert. Melted, gooey chocolate is fairly difficult not to like and, while a truly stunning chocolate fondant is hard to do, most restaurants are happy to make do with an average attempt, but which still make the average punter week at the knees. That perhaps sums up Hush quite neatly - average food for an easy-to-please average punter. I didn’t get to see the bill, but I suspect with the 30% discount it was just about bearable. Not one to go to for a gastronomic experience, but just to enjoy the buzz and the company your friends. Stick to the simple dishes. 6/10.
