Yesterday my husband and me, we went there after they had closed for lunch. They took us in, saying they can only serve us dosa and idli. Since we were really hungry we decided to order just that. We ordered 2 plates of idli and 2 ghee roasted masala dosa. They took 10 mins to serve us but when the food came it was hot and freshly prepared. The dosas were fried in proper ghee, the masala was good, the sambar was flavourful and thick with lots of veggies including drumsticks and all the three chutneys were awesome and the idli was also steaming, soft and just perfect. The guy who served us beyond his time of duty was really polite, at no time did he hurry us and gave information when we asked him about their upcoming Chettinad festival in February. The place is clean and the bathrooms are clean with nappy changing facilities. Being a fan of South Indian food and having had it in most of the East Ham places including the famous brands, I would say this was our best dosa experience. To top it the dosas are £2 for lunch, so we had an great meal under £10. We are definitely going back soon.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Sri Rathiga's bland facade conceals a truly excellent restaurant and serves to make this a real hidden gem. The South Indian speciality food is uniformly flavoursome and delicious - my personal favourite is the crab curry. The staff are welcoming and efficient and the prices are modest. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Went to SrI Rathiga in Ilford on Saturday and the food, ambience and service was very good. The restaurant specialises in South Indian Food from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The restaurant offers a new menu specialising in Chettinad items.
We tried the Kozi Milagu and Chukka Lamb as starters which was very good and we could taste the real spices of Chettinad cuisine.
The restaurant has a new and extensive wine list and offers Indian wine. We tried a new indian red wine which went well with the meal.
The restaurant has recently been refurbished and has a separate dining area for 40 people in the lower ground floor with plasma tv facilities playing Indian songs.
A superb restaurant in Ilford and would recommend to everyone to visit the place.
