Ate there last night (Sunday, not a usual day for fish and chip shops) Overall impression good. Battered haddock was a little oily for my taste, but was hot (unusual for so many restaurants these days) as were the chips. Fried cuttle fish was also very tasty. Staff friendly, but we had the new girl who seems a little confused by their EPOS ordering systems. Prices fair. I thought it was a bit cheeky to ask for an addition 75p for tartar sauce.

An excellent place. The lunch special was a really good size, excellently cooked, proper chip shop chips. We marked it 8.5/10. The only complaint was the tartar sauce needed some more bite. Lacking in capers maybe. Great staff, could do with a makeover (restaurant rather than staff).

Ate at the FishClub in Clapham last night for the first time and we were not disappointed. The pan fried squid in chilli/garlic is one of the most delicious dishes I have ever consumed. The whole royal bream with rosemary/lemon was also excellent. Their chips both normal potato and sweet potato were soooo yummy. For dessert, we had creme brulee (excellent - creamy inside and nicely burnt surface) and chocolate ice-cream (also, very good quality).

All in all, I would love to go back again. The prices weren't anywhere near how much other restaurants charge for fresh fish. For e.g. a large royal bream was just £12.95 and the squid dish was £8.95 (although the squid portion could have been larger).

My only complaint is that our meal came 45 minutes after we ordered and we're told this is because the bream was quite large and took extra time to cook.

ate here tonight for the first time & it was beyond expectation. Mersea oysters were excellent, fresh tasting and great value, served up on a bed of seaweed, these were in the same league as the ones that we had at J Sheekey... Mains of chargrilled mullet with salsa verde and marlin with a black bean sauce didn't disappoint either and the chips were absolute perfection. We will be back again for sure!

I just saw a menu in front of my door one sunday and i ask my wife to give it a go. The food is great, smiling service staff and a great asian chef.

Monday, July 13, 2009 - The keystone, the fish and chips, is good. That coley is fresh, but the oil was slightly too cold, and the batter clings to the fish like an entrant in a wet T-shirt competition. Half the chips are idiotically spiced with cayenne, but the rest are hot and crisp. We also share a dozen or so rock oysters. They're pallid and milky at this time of the year, lacking the thwack of osmazome. A serried puck of prawns is excellent, green and Nordic with dill, and lovely on hot toast.
