Strada (Wimbledon)

I eat at Strada in Wimbledon village at least 3 times a month (not because I like eating out, but because I love their food). The service is always fantastic (authentic Italian waiters), and the food is always consistently good. I almost always eat the Pollo Con Funghi which is delicious and my husband is a huge fan of the Rustica pizza. I had the gnocchi once , and I found it very heavy - but I had never had gnocchi before so wasn't sure what to expect. The melt in the middle chocolate pudding is delicious, as is the espresso and nougat semi-freddo. The pesto pomodoro basket (bread) is the best starter in the whole of London. I could eat it with every meal. A word of warning though - go after 7pm if you do not like children (there are a lot of families with small children who eat before 7pm).

How can one possibly review this Strada when they won't even take a reservation for a table?? Ludicrous! My husband and I go to Strada in Putney on a regular basis but wanted a change hence trying to book Wimbledon Village with friends.
Doubt we'll bother again and will certainly take our custom elsewhere!!!

Someone in this place really knows how to cook, and I hope he/she is valued by management. The pizzas were great-hot;authentic ingredients;and the all- important CRISPY base! The risotto was perfect, just like in Italy and unlike the sludge served as risotto in more expensive restaurants in London. The pastas were also very good and generously served .Wine list was not overly expensive. What a great local place !

Great prawns for starter and the lamb was top drawer. Magnus the manager was very good and called me on the mobile as a table wasn't available straight away.

A very poor experience. They did not write down our order then delivered one incorrect main course. Replaced it correctly 20 minutes later but one diner had finished before the other had started. we complained which was dealt with in an off hand manner. No offer of free drink or reduction in cost, then had the audacity to add 12.5% service charge to the bill. We were extremely unhappy and even E Mailed head office with complaint. received an acknowledgement but nothing more. Atrocious all round we will not go to Strada again as they obviously do not care about customers.
