I really like this restaurant too - I've been going there probably 3 times a year for the last 5 years. It's not fancy but it's just nice, tasty, good value food in my experience. I agree that sometimes the staff don't speak great English but isn't that the same in many London restaurants!!

I really like the food at Mai Thai in Wimbledon, especially the spicy pork mince, prawn salad and pad thai. The atmosphere is very cosy and romantic. However portion is not very big. Staff very friendly!

I am really surprised by all the dreadful reviews on here. I've eaten here 4 or 5 times now and am going back there tonight. (It was in googling for the restaurant's phone number to book a table, that I came across these reviews.) I agree the waiting staff's command of English hasn't been great in my experience, which could be frustrating if you had questions about the menu. But the food itself I have always found to be delicious. The friend I took there last time was so impressed she's been driving 30 mins to get take-aways from there since.

The worst Pad Thai I've ever had in London so far. The service was quick, and the price - got it for a fiver - is obviously very good.

But the taste was really blunt; not impressed at all...

This has to be the worst 'restaurant' I have eaten in. We should've read the signs when we asked the waitress what the ingredients were in the traditional Thai salad - a blank look followed and after many more attempts of trying to rephrase the question, she still could not understand what the question was - how can you have waitresses who cannot explain what is on the menu?!! The only other waiter was equally baffled.

So our ordering consisted of pointing items out on the menu. My friend and I ordered starters and I cannot recommend any of them. The chicken/pork/walnut dumplings - apparently - were full of gristle, disgusting. The only redeeming factor for was that they were the only items that weren't heavily deep fried. The toast/pork triangles were smothered in batter and deep fried. The 'king' prawns were so full of batter that the entire plate was full of batter after I had removed each prawn (there were also pieces of carrots battered and fried dispersed among the prawns - not sure if they were trying to make the meal go further.

Needless to say we decided against having mains and left. I am yet to find out who the manager of this supposed 'restaurant' is and if you happen to read this, your eatery should be shut down. The worst eating experience imaginable.

We ate at Mai Thai last night. The waitress could not speak english and our order was repeated many times. It did eventually get placed.

I had pork spring rolls for starter they were tasteless and greasy. I opened one to see if there was actually any pork inside - there wasnt . There were flakes of mushroom and the vermicilli. Awful.

I showed the waitress to show us but she couldn't understand the compliant I called over a waiter and I opened another spring roll in front of him to show there was no meat inside , he probbed his finger into the roll and pinpointed the minute one piece of pork.It was laughable. He was not pleased with me.

No apology, no offer of replcement, nothing.

I had supposedly pan fried noodles with chilli beef. It was slopped onto the plate and contained 9 pieces of beef, I counted !! It was very hot and had been chilli powdered to the max to give flavour I suppose.

Never again.
