Mai Thai
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
I disagree with the previous completly, as someone who has worked in Thailand for two years and sampled every thai eatery in edinburgh, mai thai is defintely up there, and interestingly all of there wines come with screw tops! dont take my word for it look at the professional reviews!

I saw the reviews, but went anyway. It was indeed AVERAGE.
The food was nothing to excite - there are far more superior Thai places, including many of the small cafes - but not extortionate price-wise.
The service is unbelievable really. A waitress who TWICE botched up opening a bottle of wine, the second time I even got a piece of cork in my mouth when I tested it! Not alot of smiles to go around either...
It's what would call just about acceptable, but not the place to impress a date!

A very average and somewhat disappointing Thai restaurant. Service was excellent and the venue/location is good. But the food was very average, nothing spectacular. I ordered praws in garlic and pepper sauce with sticky rice. The sticky rice needed a lot of chewing before you could swallow it, TOO sticky and wrapped in cling film so probably microwaved!! I received a plate of 8 prawns with about a tablespoon of bland sauce and that was it!! No veggies, nothing. So i ordered some bak choi on the side - which was acutally very good and came within a few minutes of me asking for it. Which again begged the question how they were cooking/warming the food. My dinner guest has the fish cakes for starters which were extremely rubbery and again bland.
At £52 for a meal for two including starters, I felt this wasn't great value for money for what we received.

I have eaten at Mai Thai a few time now, each time with a different sized party. I found that be the party large or small the food has been fantastic. I am a big Thai fan and have found that they have a really good mix of food available, all of which tried has been superb each time. The prices are very reasonable and it is therefore great value for money. It is fine for couples or the family, although the restaurant is rather small and popular so it is worth booking for larger groups or at busier times e.g. weekends.

I've been here enough times to say the food never lets you down. It's the one and only Thai place i've tried so far, so far so good. There's room for improvement for the service but as it's sometimes busy when I go you can't really blame them.

My husband and I eat here often as we live locally. The food is always superb - the service is a hit or a miss but never rude. The price is reasonable and overall its a nice place to go for thai food
