I work in the vicinity of the Empress and am slightly biased in that I use extremely regularly, hence know the senior staff by their first names. whether this makes the service better I couldn't say; I can only go on the quality of the food. I agree with most of the other comments and think the food, service, ambience and general quality are as good as I've experienced. Even on a recent occasion when one of my friends was a little 'worse for wear' the staff couldn't have been better, and assured me that he would always be welcomed back without a problem - something they needn't have done. Well done, and keep up the good work.

Just an amazing restaurant,Everything is done to detail but still feels like its simple, the food is just delicious, and for the prices its amazing. You get so much more than what you pay for, the staff are really really friendly,

having read the reviews of The Empress i was eager to sample this 'jewel' of a restaurant. So decided to go...

The restaurant looked clean and the staff were friendly.. We ordered starters of chicken tikka, which was quite nice... The mains of Chicken Biriyani and Chicken Korai (sp?) with pilau rice came next.

I was a little disappointed. The flavours were nice, but it lacked that extra kick, or spice i was longing for. The biriyani tasted a bit like the microwave meals you get in Tesco...

I think the chef caters more for the European palate, rather than serve authentic spicey Indian food. Then again how do I know, I am not of asian origin, so maybe this restaurant is authentic

But then again I am the Caribbean Cuisine Expert, so I could be wrong.... Try for yourself, I say....

I'm an Asian and I've been to a number of Indian/ Pakistani / Bangladeshi restaurants all over the world and I believe this is the best Indian restaurant (for meat - chicken and lamb). There vegetarian cuisine is pretty good as well. The meats are perfect. Never too hot (chillies) always mouth wateringly delicious. Naans perfect! had starters which melted in my mouth!

The dishes, the friendly service, fresh and aromatic food speaks for itself.

The place seems to be quite busy, yet you still manage to get a seat some how .

The prices are quite reasonable and we would love to dine there anytime we get a chance. I would recommend stongly for quality... A class resturant.

Consistantly excellent! The Empress is the best curry house in the area - a real tribute when you consider they are competeing with then likes of Cafe Spice Namaste and the whole of the Brick Lane eateries. The food is always excellent and the service impeccable. The newly reovated resturant completes the experience.
