Only one word, RUBBISH !! it is actually better at Nando's just opposite... been there with my wife for 2 steaks, 2 empanadas and 2 glass of wine = £ 75... don't even let me start on the service...

It does baffle me that there are so many terrible reviews of this restaurant, yet whenever I go it's absolutely heaving with people seemingly happily chomping through their steak. I shall attempt to give you an honest appraisal...
First of all it's probably worth clarifying that as far as I can tell, it's a steak restaurant so if you don't like steak it's probably best avoided. Equally if you want silver service, it's probably not your place. However, if you like a good cut of beef cooked well and served simply with some sides I would say you can't go too far wrong here. It's actually also pretty good value too at £16 for a great piece of sirloin. Over the years I've eaten here (or at their sister restaurant up the hill) on 4 or 5 occasions and it has always supplied me with an excellent, well cooked and reasonably priced steak. On one occasion the service was a bit poor but to be fair the steak has never disappointed. We're so used to low quality over priced steak in this country (though admittedly it's improving) that La Pampa Grill is actually a breath of fresh air. Speaking of fresh air, one thing they really do need to sort out is the smell of the drains, there really is a bit of an unpleasant whiff about the place, however it's not bad enough to stop me returning when I need my next red meat fix. In summary, it does what it says on the tin!

Yes, I made the mistake of not believe in the others reviews and went to dine with my girlfriend last Saturday. From the beginning to end was a disaster: starting with my booked table not available to the steak that was not cooked as I asked ending with very poor service. Don't even lose the time!!! The bill came at almost £100 for 2 steaks; 3 side orders and a bottle of malbec. Very very poor. Really disappointing and I had to pay for it!!!!

Having been told that the food was great but the service was poor, I decided to have an open mind as we (four of us) headed to our 8pm booking last night. We arrived bang on at 8pm, but to be told that our table was not ready, despite there being a 4 person table free right in front of us.
They made us wait near the top of the toilets as there was no other room. I had to ask the waitress twice what was going on, rather than the service keeping us informed of the situation. apparently the group on our table had not finished paying/drinking/talking so we had to wait. when i enquired as to the other free 4 person table, I was told it had been reserved for a big party.
It was now 8.15pm and we were hungry and impatient. i asked if they could give us some complimentary starters/free round of drinks whilst we were waiting, only to be rudely told by the waiter that it was not his fault the people were taking too long on our table. An absolutely astonishingly poor way to treat a paying customer. We eventually were seated at 8.25pm after they hurried the previous occupants of our table up. The food once we ordered was good but the service was unbelievably poor and this definititely put us off. If you want great argentinian food and fantastic service you should go to Santa Maria del Sur, dont go here

I ate here last night and suffice to say I shall not be returning. We had a very frosty reception, as if they were doing us a favour feeding us. An OK bottle of house champagne was pretty pricey at £45, disappointing that they only had 3 champagne flutes for the 4 of us to toast our celebration..! My husband drank his out of a tumbler. My burger was supposed to be medium, it came charred/almost burnt, with a slab of cheese ontop (placed there as if to hide the sins beneath). A medium sized bowl of chips for 2 that we "had to share" was an outrageous £7. To give them their dues, my 3 fellow diners enjoyed their fillet steaks. So they should at almost £20 a pop. The waitress has a huge attitude problem, miscalculated our bill and refused to back down when I corrected her. It felt like none of the waiting staff could be bothered to be there or make the dining experience an enjoyable one. Arrogant is a word I would use to describe this place; they think they do the best steak in London (Sophie's Steakhouse is streets ahead), they charge through the nose for basic fare and treat you like you owe them a favour. Not worth it. In hindsight, we probably would have had a nicer time over the road at Nando's.

Don't believe the bad reviews - I have been going to La Pampa for several years now, and the steak is consistently amazing! Yeah, the service isn't great but I don't really care about that - this is a basic steak restaurant and I have never, ever been disappointed with the quality. I've travelled all over South America and I genuinely didn't find a better steak, so ignore the moaners here!!!
