what the critics say

This Is London

David Sexton - 0/5

Thursday, July 23, 2009 - The whole place is dominated by giant plasma screens, all showing the same thing and all the diners gaze up at the screens, all the time. They don't talk, which is effectively prevented by the mighty sound-system in the roof anyway...The cooking itself has nothing to be said for it. Sugar has been put into places where you don't want to find it. 'Our World Famous Chicken Crunch' is a starter composed of strips of breast cooked in, dreadfully, 'a crunchy, sweet coating'. Even a serving of deep-fried crispy calamari in breadcrumbs came with a sickeningly sweet sauce of 'thousand island dressing'.

Metro

Marina O'Loughlin - 1/5

Friday, July 10, 2009 - And it gets worse: ribs that lurch off the bone like zombie flesh doused in a sauce that tastes like tooth decay. 'Home-made manicotti': pulpy pasta with too much spinach in an impenetrable carapace of nuked mozzarella. The steak sandwich tastes of little other than its 'bleu' cheese topping...It doesn't even have the decency to be cheap. If you must have this sort of thing, you're better off at TGI Friday's. And there's something I never thought I'd find myself typing.

don't bother, especially if you remember the old PH. No better than an old Wimpey!!! Bad service cold tasteless food and way too expensive

We had a meal on friday night there were 4 of us,2 adults and 2 young children. It was the first time we have been,we all found it brilliant. We enjoyed it so much we all went agin on saturday night. We were on a weekend break and were really impressed, the staff were really nice to our young daughters and we found the food really nice and of a high standard. We are used to eating out and do so regularly but this is definatly a must and will be on our agenda next time we are in London. The big downside which spoilt the night from start to finish was the horrendously LOUD music.

We visited at lunchtime and it was quite busy. Good music was being played and the atmosphere was good. We were served promptly and the food when it came was hot and tasty. The place is handy if you are in the Piccadilly/Leicester Square area and we would visit again.

Having been to the original planet Hollywood restaurant in London the new revamped one was awful particularly in comparison. Visually dull, hardly any memorabilia and service appalling. We had to keep chasing down our waitress to get drinks. We ordered two well done burgers which we sent back as they were rare. They hardly bothered with us because without saying (and displaying clearly on the menu) they apply a 12.5% service charge. So they barely bother with you then you get forced into an outrageous service charge- it wasn't as if it was because of the size of our party as there were two of us. Cost was overpriced for ok food. Was very disappointed this restaurant won't last long. Being in marketing I would presume the only good reviews here are the staff doing emergency pr!! avoid avoid!!

Visited the resturant on 17 October, having been to the original location a couple of times when visiting London...what can I say other than I was disappointed with what appears to be a 'modernised, revamped' resturant (which should be a good thing!) The in house DJ was intrusive as was the constant camera buzzing around tables checking on diners. The menu has been upgraded to offer a wider range of food, I was not impressed, asked for a chicken, avocado and swiss burger only to be infomed by the waiter that they didn't have any, I then asked if I could just have a chicken burger (without the extras) to be then told that the Chef could complete my original order!! Not sure what that was all about?! The quality of food was poor too. It seems to be more of a party venue for 16-18's who are eager to be seen on big screens -suffice to say I won't be returning!!!

Paid a visit to PH 2/09/10 as part of a meal/show package.

If you like noisy music, noisy kids, noisy adults, dry slightly pink burgers, rubbish fries, polyfilla cheesecake then this is the place for you! Or consider Mc Donalds at a fraction of the cost !!

Went to Planet Hollywood as part of a theatre & meal deal. My meal was good snd service was prompt and friendly. On the down side the volume of the noise from the screens was very load and not indusive to conversation, I don't know how the staff can put up with it all day and hear people's orders and remain cheerful. Because of this we were glad our deal only covered one course and we could get out quick.

It was rubbish. They have changed the destination and the whole design of the place. The food wasn't great as well.

We all had a wicked time, the beats are on it, and the food was good too.

Lots of kids and families, and the DJ put us on the big screen :-)
