The quiet ambience is great as it attracts a nice clientel - not the binge-drinker type. You can have a lovely conversation without shouting over loud music. The interior is nicely understated and restful - this results in a very convivial atmosphere. Food is lovely-but as regulars me and my friends would appreciate more additions to the 'bar' food. Nachos, sausages etc are delicious and should be kept, but, as regulars, we would appreciate further dishes on the menu. The service at the bar is very slow, with staff having trouble using the till and you can stand there for ages whilst they key in your two glasses of wine into the till - this is a bit frustrating after a hard day at work. Also, the staff are very keen to clear yur table - even if you've just had a short break from eating they wizz up to the table and start clearing your plates away before asking if you've finished! They also come to the table and swap ashtrays even if there is only one cigarette stub in it! Bit too zealous for my liking! At the same time, conversly, sometimes it seems as if the staff aren't really happy to be there - you feel like you are troubling them when you ask for additional bread or potatoes for example (willing to pay for this!) But overall, I would highly recommend this bar - the wine is fab!
