Had a brilliant time at the Alma must be the best place in london to watch rugby

they even had a big screen projector outside!!!

Had a meal (4 of us )a few days later it was excellent with friendly helpful staff and a reasonable price for a restaurant.Highly recommended(especially Youngs Winter warmer beer !!!)

Treated my Mum to a much deserved lunch here on Mothers Day and what a delight The Alma was. The staff went out of their way to assist us with our various dietry requirements!! The food was fantastic and it is such a beautiful restaurant on a sunny day. I lived here in the early 90's and its good to see the pub is still a real treasure. Definately recommended.

Went for Sunday Lunch with the family and we all had the sunday roast. THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE AND OVER PRICED.

Go to DITTO up the road and see what you get for the same price.Only then will you understand how bad the ALMA is.

I thought the new management had improved the food ?

I was slightly deterred by a couple of reviews I read of Alma but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. Good service, buzzy surroundings, but much to my disappointment very average food. The walnut bread I was looking forward to with my terrine was actually stale toasted baguette and the vegetarian aubergine was bland and very uninteresting. A shame but not entirely unexpected!

I went to the Alma last night and I just wanted to say....what a great pub! The food was excellent and service was outstanding.

I had heard that it was under new management and wanted to check it out and the Alma is better than ever!

The Alma is now just a bog-standard chain pub with no soul and an overpriced, below-par offering for food.

Note to the managers - you could get away with those prices when the food was fresh and of the best quality around. Charging the same now is a cynical rip off. Also - when I was there last the food was all over-cooked and bland. What has happened? Has the chef left?

Yet another tragic loss of a great pub into the fold of big business.

I think The Alma is a great pub! It has definately cleaned up its act from when I visited a few months back...the staff seemed not to care and were fairly arrogant. The place is much friendlier now and I had a fantastic meal in the restaurant. I hope the beer tastes just as good when the brewery moves.

I,ve been going to the Alma for a long time mainly for the food rather than the Pub. What happened? I know its gone back to be a managers house. Did the chef go to??? Where is the friendly staff in the restaurant and who are the new managers!!! Im really sad to see the food that ones was so great, changes so fast in to something not good at all. P.S when did alma ever show football?????????

The food and service is great but if you eat in the restaurant then you run the risk, as we did, of ending up beside a pack of chain smokers. The atmosphere and lovely food was ruined as there is no part of the restaurant that is non-smoking - amazing, especially considering that smokers could pop next door into the bar and smoke their lungs out. At £25 to £30 a head I won't be back until The Alma moves into 2006.
