Went here last night - never again! Pizza was bland, tasteless and dry. Very noisy. Decor awful, with harsh bright lighting. Service abysmal.

I ate at La Porchetta (Rosebery Avenue) last night with my friends, it was a really disappointing evening. There was a large group of people who throughout the night got rowdier and rowdier, it transpired that they were friends of the staff and it seemed that whatever they did seemed ok by the staff, even the pizza chef was joining in by hollering across to them. There was no apology or even recognition that the other diners were not enjoying it, we looked around at the group as their noise level was bouncing off the walls and they jeered and shouted louder.
If the staff want to have a party that’s cool, but close the place and don’t take bookings and charge us for the experience. We work in central London but wanted to try this place as it’s a small family run chain but after last night, I will not be returning.

At first I didn’t think it was going to be much cop, as their logo is this irritating cartoon pig (I dislike that sort of thing!) and also you couldn’t see outside due to the height of the window (I always like a London street view). However I got a pleasant surprise as the food was awesome, with really generous portions (salad for starter with really nice creamy mozarella and soft, ripe avacado), and my pizza was incredible! Huge in size, well cooked, with grilled veg – aubergines, courgette, olives, mozarella (as a fresh topping as well as normal melted style), pesto and tons of sun-dried tomato which I love! Usually in most places you get a few slithers but there was stacks of it!! Friendly staff, nice bootle of Valpolicella. I'll definitely go back there. Excellent.

The only problem with La Porchetta is that it is sometimes a victim of its own popularity. It serves great food, is a fin place to eat and in one of the most kid-friendly restaurants in London. A complete winner

It has been a long time since i had such a bad pizza!! It just didn't taste of anything, the base was bready, the spinach dry, the cheese just tasted cheap. My husband had a pizza "ortolana" and said the aubergines and cougettes (the tiny pieces lost in the middle of the bready base) were dry and tasteless as well. Basically it doesn't really matter what flavour pizza you order, as it all tastes the same: bland and dry.
Our waiter was friendly, but didn't seem to know what he was doing. It's quite a noisy restaurant, which is fine, specially on a Saturday night, but would be better if the staff didn't run around looking like headless chickens, I won't go back.

I wish there was something good to say. Have just left the joint, having ordered a pizza to collect that was WAY overcooked. After a slight wrangle, offered a replacement.
Caught the staff taking the piss out of me, so got my money back and left.
On previous occasions have been given tepid white wine, wrong orders, waited far to long...today was different.
The Islington joint is so much better...and more polite.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant lots of times and I've always had a pleasant experience. So I was surprised when I went to book it for a 30th birthday and I saw all the bad reviews on this site. I don’t understand why. Ok, so it’s not exactly haute cuisine but then you don't go there expecting that. Every time I’ve been here the food has been great and the atmosphere, while a tad loud at times, is buzzing. Dinner for 21 people on a busy Saturday night (no problem that I’d only booked for 20 and over half our party was 30 mins late) went off without a hitch. The manager was really friendly and attentive all evening and even accommodated my request to split the bill between two tables so that we could manage it more easily at the end. It was astonishly cheap for what we had and everyone was really happy with their food. The thing they do with the pizza dough to the person whose birthday it is is a bit strange…I won’t spoil it for you…but I have no hesitation in recommending this place. Compared to most Italian chains (it certainly feels more like a family restaurant and less like a chain than Pizza Express or Cafe Uno) for me it ranks up there as one of the best.
