Cafe Rouge (Canary Wharf)

Absolutely agree with the other reviews. I too landed in the Canary Wharf branch by accident. Food, service and prices terrible. Are Cafe Rouge a franchise. I ask because usually they are good value but this branch is a noticeable exception. Perhaps the city boys are too rich or drunk to notice!!!!

Must agree with most of the other comments. Poor service! Well we left before we even got serviced. We only really went to Cafe Rouge because everywhere else on the warf at lunch time was jammed packed. I only had 40 mins to spare so decided to have a coffee we were directed to seats by the bar and sat there for 20 mins and no one appeared so i decided to shout to a waitress who just ignored us, at that point we grabbed our coats and only at that point did someone take notice - too late!!

I dont normally complain about over attentive staff, but this place was ridulous! On a rare visit to London,my wife & myself became lost in the labyrynth that is Canary Wharf & out of sheer desperation(we were starving!)found ourselves at Cafe Rouge...Waitress no.1 showed us to our table & gave us the wine list(but no menu).Waitress no.2 quickly appeared to take our order, but seeing we had no menu, looked annoyed & produced one.
Waitress 3 took our order & waitress 4 brought our drinks! Our food arrived quickly(delivered by waitress 5)but before I'd managed to eat even a mouthful we were approched by waitress 6,who asked if we were enjoying our meal!...a couple of minutes later waitress 7 arrived to ask the same question & when we told her that we'd already been asked, she muttered something unintelligable & walked away.Throughout the meal,I had a sense that we were being watched!...indeed I was keeping an eye on the 25 or so waitresses, who seemed to have very little to do besides make a nuisance of themselves.I quipped to my wife that I bet my plate would be wisked away as soon as I finished my food & yep, the instant I put my knife & fork down, waitress 8(who may have been waitress 5 again!)grabbed it!To cut a long story short, waitress 9 cleared our table & waitress 10 brought the bill, which we paid & quickly escaped...Maybe I've exaggerated a bit as I dont think Cafe Rouge would employ 10 waitresses on a Tuesday night, but it definitely spoiled our meal, which is a shame as the food was'nt bad & the atmosphere was OK...we just wont be going back again. We have a branch of Cafe Rouge in Plymouth which I've enjoyed a few times & its nothing like that me 'ansome!

I have been here a few times now and find it swings between bad and brilliant, but for some reason I keep going back (its close to home and quieter than All Bar One I suppose!) was there on Sunday evening 11/6 and both the staff polite and helpful and food were great.

It is total disaster. How can you call this place a restaurant. I will say Indian cuisine or Albanian. We had couple bottles of wine...and they wanted us to pay a service charge 12.5%. Common the guy did not even know how to take it off and he called himself an assistant manager. This cafe is rubbish. What a shame...Even my little sun knows more then him. I will highly recommend for all human beings to eat at some other places.

Well, can't understand the responses from the below people. I've been drinking/eating at the cafe for well over 12 months due to working nearby and I can honestly say that in all the times I've eaten and drank there I've never had an issues with the food or staff.
Don't know, maybe it's because I know them... anyway, they must be doing something right because I'm finding it very hard to get a seat on a Wed, Thurs or Friday night due to it being to busy. Suggest they put aside a table for the regulars who eat/drink there.
Looking forward to summer and sitting outside.

The most horrible place I have ever been eating in my life. Service is on the lowest lever ever ever ever. Food took ages to come out and the manage was really unprofessional. He made feel more even more confused. Never will come back.

I rarely write bad reviews on this site, infact I don't think I ever have.... but I can 100% say that the meal I had at Cafe Rouge in Canary Wharf 2 days ago was the worst I have ever eaten, thankfully I wasn't picking up the tab otherwise I might have walked out! I couldn't agree more with the comments below, the waiting staff were unpleasant, unhelpful and sour faced. I ordered the 'special' starter or Butternut squash soup, which turned out to be either out of a packet/tin and luke warm when it arrived. I expected at least a bread roll but when I enquired was told I 'had to pay extra for bread'. I managed to digest most of the soup (out of sheer hunger alone) praying that the main course was an improvement. What was delivered was farcical. I ordered 'baked cod served on a bed of ratatouille with niccoise potatoes'. What I received was cod baked for so long it had shrivelled to the size of a dried apricot, a teaspoon of what I can only assume was ratatouille (a smidgen of chopped tomato with a couple of strips of red and yellow pepper) and 3 boiled (until they were a strange shade of greyish brown) new potatoes - pitifully rolling around the stone cold plate. No butter, no sauce...no presentation full stop. Not being sure how I was going to force this down I asked for some tartar sauce - to which they replied 'we don't have any'. So... I merrily ploughed my way through, but I can only describe the experience as nightmarish - I can still feel the uncomfortable scraping of the baked cod across the roof of my mouth as I desperately tried to break down its rubbery texture. Naturally we opted for the bill shortly afterward, the office being far preferable to the fear of sampling their desert menu. Do yourself a favour, if you ever find yourself even contemplating Cafe Rouge - don't. A Prêt sandwich is by far cheaper and, from my experience, a lot more tasty and memorable. I will never EVER return.

Dreadful. Steak asked for "rare" and arrived "shoe leather". Rude waitress, nearly empty on a friday night (no surprise).
Please let this farce close down and be replaced with a good restaurant in an otherwise nice setting!

The waitress was so rude we walked out before she had even taken our order. Needless to say we will not be going back.
