Carluccio's (Canary Wharf)

As a Wharf worker, Carluccios is my occasional lunchtime treat. The place is always packed, and as a result very noisy, and the tables are crammed in together. To avoid a queue we nip in at 11:50 before the tables all go. That's the bad stuff - the rest is all good. The (rushed) staff are always helpful, and remarkably efficient. The food is always top - and the constantly changing specials don't disappoint. I've never had a bad meal here, and due to the quantity of time-poor Wharfites wanting lunch NOW it's very very swift and efficient service. So don't go for a romantic lunch, but do go for tasty food served at lightning speed by friendly staff... If you want more ambiance, go in the evening!

Have been 3 times to this place and come away disappointed every time. Canary Wharf restaurant is poor in most respects, very noisy too.. However, the Esher restaurant is outstanding! Hmm...

First visit today and I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing you notice is that the place was packed at 12.15 pm and is apparently so every day. Now I do appreciate that the choice is not unlimited in Canary Wharf, but still this can't be a bad sign. My proscuitto and venison torellini were both at least as good as I expected and whilst the service wasn't rapid, they seemed to be coping with a full restaurant pretty well. Prices were about average for this type of food.
I'd certainly go again , hoping only for a waiter who han't obviously just been on the in-house "upselling" course!
