I celebrated my birthday at The Gun in Coldharbour Docklands with 6 friends. The food was well presented and delicious. The staff were genuine, happy and friendly. They were very helpful and efficient. The atmosphere was good, plenty of people around for a Tuesday evening. The view of the O2 centre and being right on the Thames created a nice setting for my special occassion.

The Gun is fantastic!
I have been a few times joined friends for drinks and canapés which were very tasty indeed.
My last visit was dinner for 4, the service was attentive but not too in your face so we really had the opportunity to relax and enjoy each others company. The food was delicious.
I highly recommend this place.

We booked the private dining room at The Gun for nine people, and had an excellent evening. The room itself is very impressive, with large windows looking over the Thames to the Dome. Many private dining rooms are claustrophobic, cramped and windowless, but the River Room at the Gun is the polar opposite. The other pitfall of private dining rooms is that you are abandoned by the staff, and have to go looking for them when you need anything. The service at The Gun was fine, with regular and discreet visits from the staff to check on us. They offer choices of good value menus and 'feasts', and they give you the room for free if the party is eight or more. Highly recommended.

After a 2nd successful celebration held at The Gun, I would definitely recommend the venue. The staff are professional and helpful and the venue itself is a charm if needing to arrange a lunch for 60+ people!

They always have a monster meat dish. Last time it was lamb shoulder for 6 and we were 2, this time it was rib of beef for 2 and we were 6. This rib of beef was superb quality and cooked perfectly. What a taste and huge! If you have one of these, consider not having a starter. The staff are always as helpful as anywhere but never intrusive. OK the pub's always busy, the restaurant is a bit cramped, certainly not romantic, but you get spot on food at medium prices for London. I love their approach to simple food of high quality, prepared really well. It reminds me of the way France can sometimes be but this is very British.

After my brush with a rather higher profile gastro pub run by a famous chef recently, I have to say that I was a little dubious about taking my husband to another Gastro Pub. Anyhoo, I took the plunge with The Gun since the reviews looked good. Well, I was not disappointed. My husband and I walked from the tube, it took us a little while to figure out where we were going and it could do with a bit of signposting, but we got there. We ate at 8.00pm and there were plenty of tables, although these became more scarce as the hour got later. The staff at the bar and those waiting tables were really on the ball. We were welcomed with smiles and waited on promptly. I would have liked to sit out on the river front deck, but unfortunately, tables were few, smokers were plentiful and eating out there would not have been pleasant. This really should be a feature of this pub, especially for the diners and it would have been really nice to be able to partake of the view over dinner when the dome is lit up. That is my only gripe. The rest of the evening was, indeed, a pleasant experience. I started with the crab on toast, which was made with fresh crab, could have done with some butter for the toast, but it was delicious, husband had th 3 bird terrine which he said was nice but could have done with a little more seasoning. We accompanied this with a very pleasant Merlot for £23 which slipped down very nicely! I then had the steak. This juicy, succulent piece of heaven came with hand cut chips, wish there had been more of them, but they were delicious, hot and fat!! I accompanied this with a salad and field mushrooms which we shared. My husband had the the pork belly which came with a bed of mashed potato which he polished off without much talking, always a good sign that all is well on the taste buds. I finished with the chocolate brownie, hubby with the pannacotta and satisfied smiles as the last of the Merlot slipped away. A nice Tia Maria coffee and the bill £122 including VAT and 12% service charge was a little pricey but the warm satisfied glow that we both felt as we trotted back the the unmentionable tube station, kept us chatting and laughing, I suspect due the the heavenly Merlot!! By the time we got home, we were happily discussing our next visit to the Gun and hoping that by then they would have sorted the river front dining that would have made the evening perfect.

Myself and three colleagues from work had lunch in The Gun last week and it was fantastic, I'm not normally the type to comment on these type of things, good or bad, but I felt on this occasion it was certainly worthy of a mention. The food was delicious, the service was great (offered excellent advice on vino ie listened to what we liked rather than trying to get us to buy the most expensive bottle) and finally the venue & setting have to be seen to be believed. All-in-all top notch!

Took a party of 8, which became 11, to the Saturday of the Red Bull Air Race. The unanimous opinion of all was that it was a fantastic day out, the staff were extremely efficient and the food was lovely.
The venue coped well with the change in our numbers and we wouldn't hesitate to repeat the visit.
