The worst paella that I have ever had anywhere.

It looked as though it had been put under the grill and cooked from above, the prawns were well over done, the mussels likewise, I would never recommend this place, and certainly never return.

Went there for my birthday last weekend: We booked a table for Saturday evening well in advance. When we got to the place, we were told it would be ready in 5 minutes. An hour and ten minutes later we were still waiting for it, standing at the door. The main guy was quite impolite and then once a table finally became free, he decided to give it to people who had a later reservation - just because there were 4 of them and only 3 of us. So we left the restaurant at 10 pm, having waited since 8:45. No food, no birthday celebrations and with not many hopes for finding a free table on a Saturday night.

It's a shame because I'd been there before and just like the other person said - the food is not amazing but can be quite good at times. It's unfortunate that we were treated so poorly and that on a night that was supposed to be special. So even though I liked Galicia, I am never going back there. The whole experience was just very bizarre.

Anyone who has watched Fawlty Towers and enjoyed it, must come to dine here. The tapas is always lovely and the service on par with Basil Fawltys. Whatever you do, DO NOT try to attract the waiter's attention as you'll fail miserably. I love the food and the atmosphere there and have taken many friends who also gave it the thumbs up. Relaxed and I felt like I was not in London but in Spain.

My husband and I have been going to Galicia for years - sometimes the food has been good, sometimes not - but yesterday everything was superior. We had perfectly cooked prawns in a delicious garlic sauce and exquisite whitebait - with a pleasingly crunchy coating - then fried to perfection.

Going on a Sunday near Christmas is an added treat - very festive and it's wonderful seeing the locals all squeezed up at the bar warming one another in their bulky winter coats and enjoying their glasses of vino tinto.

ALTHOUGH I HAVE SPENT MANY YEARS IN THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS , AND LATTERLY AS A RESTAURANT AND HOTEL CRITIC , I ONLY RECENTLY VISITED THIS AUTHENTIC SPANISH RESTAURANT, WITH EVERYTHING THAT A SPANISH RESTAURANT SHOULD BE , FROM DELIGHTFUL TAPAS, TO A GREAT MENU OF SPANISH FOOD, WELL COOKED ,AND PRESENTED AND SERVED BY SPANISH STAFF ,THE WINE I FOUND WAS OF GOOD QUALITY AT MOST REASONABLE PRICES, AND AS PART OF MY LONG CAREER WAS THAT OFA SOMMELIER,I AM VERY CRITICAL WITH REGARD TO WINES, THE WAITERS AND BAR STAFF ARE VERY HAPPY BUNCH AND ARE VERY FRIENDLY , IN MY CAREER I HAVE ALWAYS CHECKED THE CLIENTELE OF AN ESTABLISHMENT , THIS GIVES ONE THE KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THE ESTABLISHMENT IS LIKE , AND THIS RESTAURANT IS FREQUENTED BY SPANISH PEOPLE, STARS, AND POLITICIANS, THE OWNER IS ON HAND TO SEE THAT EVERYONE IS HAPPY , I GIVE THIS RESTAURANT 9 OUT OF 10, IN MY EXPERIENCE YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO CRITISIZE , BUT THIS RESTAURANT DESERVES A VISIT. AND I WILL CERTAINLY ADD THIS TO MY LIST OF REGULAR EATING ESTABLISHMENTS,..

I've been a regular at Galicia for the last 10 years or so and have always rather liked the eccentricity of service (rude) and the sometimes not good food. It's ambience made up for these and when the food was good it was very good.

However, recently the food has been AWFUL. On my last three visits I've been served anchovies that were yellowing with age and had to be sent back - the waiter assured me on ordering that they were fresh. On my last visit the aubergine was disgusting, cold and tasteless. The tortilla was a good 2 - 3 days old and the octopus was cold and drowned in cold oil.

They wouldn't dare serve this kind of rubbish to the Spanish customers. I felt like a tourist in Florence, given poor food with poor service and charged through the nose! I won't be going back.

The tapas was okay - nothing special. The main courses were abysmal. The fish was clearly frozen (yes, even the £17.50 turbot!) and so bad we left most of it. The waiter didn't ask why. It was like a trip back to the 1970s, before even the "joys" of Beefeaters were invented. We will not be going back.

Went for a late lunch with a friend. Liked the fact it was obviously run by Spaniards and there were plenty of late middle-aged Spaniards clustered around the bar. Not a flash place but I liked its down at heel ambiance, the indifference of the waiters and the fast service. The food was delicious and a dry sherry lubricated the tapas well. I’d recommend it if you want a good value dining experience in an authentic atmosphere.

FOR ALL THE REGULAR CUSTOMERS.....you should probably know that the food is NOT freshly cooked, i got there at 7pm (the place was just opening, and i was told that even the chef wasn't there yet), i had my squid in black ink 5 minutes after I ordered them which means that they were already cooked and just needed a bit of heat up. main course was wrong, and i've been told off by the waiter, unbelievable!!!!

it was overall very disappointing!!!!

i won't go there ever again!

We have been going here for over 2 years now about once a month or so. It is a homestyle, family run restaurant, so if you fancy modern, flash decor and will moan if you dont get it, then dont go. Frankly we dont care what kind of chair we sit on, after all its the food we are paying for and that we are there for.

The food is delicious. We have basically tried everything at this stage, from tapas to mains. The wines are also very good and reasonable, especially the house Rioja.

It is always busy and full of native Spanish. Yes there can be an air of chaos and there is one waiter there who seems to constantly be having a bad day but we just find him funny. Personally we prefer to order and to be served and after that we dont really want a cheesy waiter hanging from our table playing for tips. This place is great, believe me we would not keep going back if it wasnt. Give it a go.
