We ate at Erebuni Restuarant on the 8th of March which happened to fall under Russian Womens Day and i must say we had a great time. There was singing and dancing adn even though not everyone knew each other, everybody joined in and as they say " we danced the night away". The food was great and we tried many different things: the chicken kiev was very good as was the hinkali. The prices are moderate and staff pleasant. All in all I would go back again! great place for a party!

We actually had the intention of going to Nikita’s for a Russian meal but we spent three hours looking for it and somehow we ended up in Kensington. The nice owner of a Russian shop told us Erebuni was around here but failed to mention that it was actually inside a hotel! Luckily we bumped into a man who was staying in the hotel and we asked him for directions, and he dutifully informed us we had to go into the hotel and downstairs. Hell to find, but well worth it.
I’ve never actually been to Russia but I was told that the décor was very authentic – low lighting, hearty colours like red on green. We came at a bit of an awkward time and we were the only diners at the restaurant, which was fine with us. My date decided to order for me since I knew nothing of Russian cuisine, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. She started me off with something safe: an ukha po-domashnemu (clear fish broth), which was fine, but with the Russian bread as an accompaniment really I wanted something more savoury so I ended up trading for her mysnaya solyanka (sour meat soup – almost a porridge). She was afraid that I wouldn’t like it but I actually really enjoyed it. The flavour was unlike anything I had ever eaten – packed with spices and a strong zesty punch. I do admit it is a bit of a refined taste, and I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone.
For the main I had kartoshka (fried potatoes with creamed onions and mushrooms). I was shocked that I enjoyed a vegetarian dish so much since I considered myself a hardcore carnivore, but this was simply amazing. Potatoes are such versatile vegetables but I can’t remember a dish better utilising it than this one. My favourite of the evening.
For dessert we both had a napoleon (Russian pastry filled with whipped cream). Deliciously flaky and light, but didn’t feel much different from any other pastries. I still finished the whole thing however (perhaps I shouldn’t have, the portions were quite large) with some Armenian coffee to balance off the rich and sweetness.
The waitress was great, spoke perfect Russian to my date and probably made some jokes at my expense. ;) The soundtrack to the evening was some repeats of cheesy Russian pop, which was fine since I didn’t understand a thing but apparently the lyrics were terrible. Worth a visit if you want to venture down into the Russian underworld but don’t dare to go to Piter.

One word: Authentic. Wonky parquet flooring, clashing colours, politely dodgy elements in the polyglot clientel, low lighting and your food takes ages to arrive. Not to worry though, there's russian pop, Baltica lager and the atmosphere is good.
The food is just great. This is the type of food you have to work to find in Moscow, hearty and unpretentious. It's more Samara or Krasnodar than the capital, which for me, is a good thing.
Authenticity points deducted because the salt and pepper are the right way round, your ashtray isn't emptied every 20 seconds and I didn't see a single tarakan.

My friend and I are both russian girls permanently living in UK and we both miss russian food so decided to visit Erebuni. My mum is half Armenian so I was really looking forward to taste some of the dishes that she used to cook. The place is difficult to find and we ended up calling the restaurant so that they could guide us! Nevertheless once we got there we received brilliant service. We had aubergines with garlick and herbs for starters,Pelmeni s kartoshkoi and chahohbili with chicken, which was very tasty. Not being picky though but chahohbili could have been a bit more spicier may be a note to the chef for the future-more hmeli suneli(mixture of spices used in armenian dishes)just like mama used to make! Also we ordered hachapuri(sort of naan bread with cheese inside)it was ok but a bit greasy and made from puff pastry, which must have been chefs' own variety I guess. All in all though we did eat everything on our plates so mum will be pleased! We washed our meals down with two bottles of red wine and by the end of the evening the entire restaurant was up and dancing hand in hand us included! Great taste of russian and armenian culture, we will be back.

I've been there yesterday evening. I am half Russian, so I looked forward to try out this restaurant which generally had good ratings...Well, the food tasted exactly what I am used to!
For fisrt I had a harcho, which was marvellous, very tasty and nourishing! It's been a long time that I haven't eaten a soup like that!
For second I had a lamb shashlyk rolled in a lavash with oninons, plus rice, tomatoes and cucumbers accompanying the whole. The meat was tender and had the exact taste you would find in Russia! The rest also was good. The red georgian wine, which I ordered along with the second, was not bad at all, athough I'd have preferred it a bit dryer.
For dessert, a normal tea with lemon and a Napoleon cake which was good, although not as tender as it should be and it seemed they took it out of the freezer just ten minutes before...
The service was good, waitresses were friendly, just the owner seemed to be a bit serious.
The atmosphere was not bad, although nothing special. There was a sort of live music, a guy playing on a keyboard and singing Russian songs, generally the classics sang on Russian parties, such as Podmoskovye vechera, Murka, Moskovskye okna, Poromshik etc... It was ok, not intrusive, even if you are sitting next to him (as I was).
The whole might be considered pricey by some, but I think it is worth of it.
Generally, I'm satisfied and I would definitely recomend the place, as well as return there!

I took a chance with Erebuni, and invite 30 people to my Birthday Party!!!
It was THE BEST party I have ever had.
The food is just like my mother makes it – Borsh and Vareniki are to die for.
I have to say THANK YOU to the owners of the restaurants the made sure that all of us left Happy and with plenty of vodka inside us ;-)

I visited Erebuni restaurant after finding out that there was a Russian restaurant which was well known throughout the Russian population in London, so decided to see what the fuss was all about. Well i know: the food was incredible...i had the Shashlik - which is Armenian style kebab on skewers prepared on real charcoal and Mangal. There are plenty of starters to choose from but the ones we had were good. The owner is a very hospitable man whom we got to know, plus the live music was fun too.
reccommendable restaurant for a fun night out with good food!
