Wagamama (Lexington Street)

I've been to wagamamma's twice for a pre-theatre meal - both times the food has been very good, the service prompt and the prices more than reasonable.
Only thing I'd say is that both times I've had tofu based dishes, which were excellent. However, last time I went, three of my family ordered chicken and beef based dishes, and they found the meat itself quite dry and unpalatable. That said, my friend also had chicken and loved it, so it might just have been bad luck.
The lovely thing is, the food leaves you full and satisfied, and it is always incredibly fragrent and rich in flavour, yet it is very non-oily, unlike so much indian and chinese cuisine.
Their stock, the liquid base for the soup dishes, is always delicious - I could drink bowlfuls of it alone.
The miso soup is delicious, but you only get a very weeny bowl of it, albeit a very cute little wooden one.
The edamame really could have used more crushed salt and chilli, but soy sauce sort of made up for it.
The free green tea is refreshing, and the staff aren't stingy with refills, so long as you ask.
Wholemeal noodles gorgeous, strongely recommended.
Definately somewhere to visit, maybe not for a really special meal out, but any time you are hungry, in a hurry before or after a show, or just want a good meal with some friends, head to wagamamma's.

it always amazes me that people just don't 'get' wagamama's and somehow think they are being ripped off for not getting michelin starred food....went there last night for yet another great meal of good quality and relatively healthy comfort food, which is what it serves up brilliantly. was speedy as always, buzzy atmosphere and the staff were cool.
and how anyone can call this expensive i just don't know!...stop being tight and chow down!

Have been here a few times now, both for lunch and dinner, and never been disappointed.
Dishes i tend to go for include Yaki Udon (noodles cooked in curry oil with an abundace of meat, prawns and veg), Yasai Katsu Curry. Their coconut soups are lovely.
Green tea is free, staff are always helpful and friendly, food is prompt and reliable.

the service was nice, the atmosphere was a little to robotic though, didn't feel at all japanese.
i had gyóza' and chicken Ramen.
the gyóza's were edible, nothing special. However the ramen was bland and tastless. the noodles were very poor quality in paricular.
overall i could see how someone who has never been to many japanese restaurants may enjoy it, they don't know any better!

Don't listen to the Ali G imitations here, they should learn to write English correctly, then and only then we might understand exactly what they were trying to say.
Wagamama does what it says on the tin, reasonable price, reasonable quality.
That's it really.
If you expect more you are in the wrong place.

Really lovely restaurant. Amazing food and service. I dount people like GT, who enjoy Mcdonalds, would like the food or set up anyway so please pay no attention. Because for people like me Wagamama is fantastic, I've even bought the starter pack and make my fave dish (cha han) at home!

Being a lover of eastern food my girlfriend and I decided to go to this restaurant on a thursday night.
My experience was absolutely horrendous. All I can say about this restaurant are bad comments. The staff is just crap, they don't care about what they are selling. I'd recommend to the manager to ask them to take off those piercings they wear. They look dirty so they food do. We ordered a couple of juices which were warm and low quality, tasteless. The soup I had was crap as well, couple of noodles here and chicken stock, voila!
Expensive, £40, 2 people for a couple of soups and 3 drinks, I find it little bit expensive after our experience. (needless to say all the customers they serve I'd pay for that dinner £30)
As other comments suggest I'd rather go to Mr woo the next time and I'd only go back if I was really hungry and it'd be the only option to take.
VERY DISSAPOINTED

recently visited this wagamama and was very dissaponited. We waited a long time to be seated and even longer to be offered a drink. I orded the chicken ramen. The chicken breast was bone dry and the soup stock tasted like a cheap tined soup. My friend orded the sea food ramen and was presented with a few misrable looking bits of squid and two over cooked prawns floating in the same chicken soup. What a load of cods wollups. Healthy eating?
