No real choice - food all cold and unappetising
Wish we'd have walked out before it was too late!

Me and my friend decided to dine here for dinner because partly it was cheap but also seemed very popular.
It was extrememely busy and when we were seated inside it was so hot! we then aked the waiter if there were any seats outside and thankfully there was. If you dine outside, you must pay first, then make sure a reciept is taped to your table and you will avoid the whole hussle and bussle of whether you have payed or not (like the table seated next to us).
It was nice to sit outside in the lazy summer afternoon and watching people stroll by. Inside its like a authentic cafe in china, great for the experince but hot, noisy and cramped. Drinks got served very quick.
The food was pretty tasty, the noodles great, the rice not so. There wasnt much meat in the dishes but i think thats because it was due to many of the people fishing it out.
The food is always hot as the bufffet atble is actually a stove type thing and because of the populariy new food kept coming coming.
I was not charged a service charge and noticed people were sipping on glasses of water - tap or payed for i wasnt sure.
Mr Wu had a range of customers, from young couples, groups of friends and small groups of businessmen.

you obviously pay for what you get with the variations of Mr Wu's spread out in China Town, overall it's still value for money when you end up paying 7-8 quid for a single dish at a typical sit down restaurant in the area

On the plus side it's cheap - However there was a fight on Saturday night (crazy woman who staff couldn't control) at about 9pm, food was basic and cold, restaraunt very cramped and impersonal, drink was London prices and service charge for no actual service is bonkers as it is self service buffet - just put the price up and don't ask for extras.

Mr. Wu is without a doubt one of the best restaurant ever!
In recent years many buffet restaurant has opened up in China Town,
but the "original" buffet, Mr. Wu remains the cheapest, and imo, most decent food too. The only other buffet that could top Mr. Wu is Buffet King, which is double the price of Mr. Wu but with really quality food and a wide selections of dishes.
Usually when I go to Mr. Wu with couple of friends we get nice service(nice, consider they don't charge 10% service charge! unlike other restaurant!), highly recommended!
Try for yourself, why not? try other buffets as well, and you'll know this review is true to heart!

The food is absolutely delicious. I can recomend this restaurant to anyone who likes good chineese food. But anyway I didn't liked that fries are served in this restaurant because it should be chinese and the fries should not be served there.

Shaftesbury Avenue:The food is fantastic, a wide range of tasty food, all very hot, soups are perfect and the fruit bowl desert is good after a large meal. I never order water, so any tap water issues are non-existent. The food is delicious, the service cannot really be commented on, you get the food yourself, so you cannot comment on the service, but the drinks came quick for what its worth. It also makes you feel like you are actually in China, so its very good

My girlfriend and I decided to pop into to Mr Wu's for a quick bite to eat based on the idea that it seemed to offer a lot of food (its supposed to be a buffet) for a relatively cheap price.
Upon entering, however, problems began to arise. To begin with the restaurant itself is incredibley cramped, our seat being directly propped up against the waiters' workstation. Looking around even the other customers seemed to be having similar problems moving to a fro from the buffet.
The food itself can only be described as mediocre. The so-called beef and black bean sauce consisted more of onion than beef. This would not have been a problem had we been able to choose something else more worthwhile - however, the 'buffet' offered only a handful of other meals, the best of which seemed to be the 'out of the packet spring rolls' and fries. Hardly chinese cuisine. They didn't even offer sweet and sour chicken!
The staff were boisterous, disinterested and made no particular effort to ensure our comfort. On the the bright side they handked the billing particularly quickly, which meant we did not have any more time in that restaurant wondering what we had let ourselves in for.
The surprising thing is, it always seems busy so Mr Wu is clearly doing well for himself. Maybe we missed something but I would definatley avoid coming back at all costs. The Subways next-door is a much better option.

Went to this restaurant in Shaftesbury Avenue on a Friday night.
The food selection was better than other Mr. Wu's, but why Spanish Paella in a chinese restaurant?? Don't get me wrong, it wasn't too bad.
Like someone said, they refused to serve tap water. Surely it is illegal?? Do not expect to be helped by thier staff: service is non-existence!
Also at the time of payment I was told that we had to pay 10% surcharge because it was after 9pm. (not that we "went in" after 9pm, but "left"after 9pm!!) If we had known that, we could have left the restaurant before 9!!
