Taormina

I found Taomina Italian Restaurant on the internet for the proximity to our hotel . We walked round with the three kids . They were very happy to allow them in and were very friendly . we returned later to enjoy a fabulous meal. The kids were made to feel very special and grown up by the staff. The grown ups were made to feel special to ! The spaghetti vongoli was beautiful and my friend steak was one of the best she had had. The service was fantastic. I would go there again and the kids will remember it as it was their first trip to london We finished the evening off with a walk in Hyde Park which is 5mins away.

Taormina was one of the highlights of our recent London visit. After hearing much about the lousy food in England, we were surprised and delighted to find this restaurant. We were greeted and treated like long lost family by Massimo and Louis. Fabio, our server, attended to our every need and brought us some of the best Italian food we've ever had. Our experience was so positive we ate there again before leaving for home. Highly recommended by two very picky diners.

We stayed close to the restaurant for three days. We chanced upon it by accident. The food was up there as the best I have tasted, the service so personal and excellent. We went again for a second try and couldn't fault anything. The mussels were superb as was the calamari and the pasta and veal to die for. We shared a home made dessert, which again was just heaven. The service and the staff made the place, I would recommend it without reservation. I want to go back now...!

My husband had a business lunch at Taormina recently and can only say that it was a huge disappointment. He was looking forward to authentic and well-cooked Italian food but his comment was that the chef must have changed recently because it was not good, cetainly not up to Italian starndards and not al all value for money. Needless to say, he won't ever be eating there again!

This restaurant is an absolute gem. Unpretentious, and superb food, with excellent (and predominately Italian) staff. Very extensive menu. The service almost made me feel like I was a guest in someone's home. The waiter whisked me zabaglione at my table even though it was not on the menu. Great value for money. Wine list is a bit limited but who cares when you are made to feel so welcome and the food is so good! Wish more places would keep it simple and have the same quality.

It's old-school and fantastic. I had a wonderful Penne Marinara and I'll definitely be going back thanks to the great prices and service. Not sure why they cahrge 50p cover though?

Taormina Restaurant is by far my favourite in London.

I am a huge fan, and somewhat of an expert taster of Italian food.

I was expecting it to be just another run-of-the-mill joint, but was stunned by the quality of the food and service.

The pasta dishes are bautifully cooked and presented, the seafood is perfectly cooked every time.

The staff are friendly and cheerful.

My only negative comment is that the wine list is quite lacking.

Great place, great food.

Had dinner at the Taormina on Nov 27. Am a little astonished about the very good reviews below, because my feeling says "medium" in everything.

The atmosphere of the room is quite italian, but the music was south american, which was a little weird (also the salsa dancing of the staff when there was nothing to do).

Service was quick though, and the food was okay for the price (the gnocchi were a little overcooked and the pizza had tons of chese but little else), so was the wine.

Great local italian. It it a New Jersey style italian though, not a "steamed sea bass" style italian. Veal milanese is excellent but they keey raising the price of the Soave.
