Maybe it was a bad day, but my experience of "Ask" was not much better than mediocre.

There was a poor selection of food - pizza and pasta, without any main meat or fish dishes and a single choice of beer. There were what appeared to be specials but these were printed on permanent card - so they seemed to be none too spontaneous. Olives to start were not of best quality and were too cold. The mains were OK but hardly better than "best-of" range supermarket filled pasta. The side salad consisted of wilted leaves with tasteless tomato and red pepper obviously selected for price rather than taste.

On the other hand, there service was attentive and polite and the location facing the river is very good.

Hi I have been to this place for couple of times.I just need a reason to visit ASK. Whenever I have to take some one for dinner family ,friends and if you really looking for ambience, food quality ,service and value for money under one roof I would suggest this is the best place. I am also vegetarian so very first time when I went to ask with my collegues I was not sure if I was going to enjoy due to limited food options for veggies , but the staff really had solution for my problem they gave me various options and I really enjoyed the evening. So londoners and outsiders visit once and experience it.

Went with my partner on a Sunday at around 6pm, for a light dinner.

The staff were friendly and helpful

The service was fast and efficient

The atmosphere was relaxed

The restaurant was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and ambiently lit

The wine & coffee were perfectly lovely

The food was fantastic (in particular the goats cheese starter, honeycombe cheesecake and banoffee pie)

Our orders were accurate

It was good value for money

The view over the river was relaxing and interesting

They even have nice toilets

I honestly couldn't fault it in the slightest (and anyone who knows me knows what a fussy sort I can be!)

I would definitely recommend Ask at Butlers Wharf. A really good experience all round.

My boyfriend and I go to this restaurant quite often. Simply the view is fantastic, but the food also is great. Good value for money, though desserts are a bit pricey. The pizzas are excellent (thin, crispy base! our favourites) though I had the pesto pasta once and was too oily for my taste. Staff are friendly even when is busy. Specially nice for a romantic summer's evening in the outside space.

Although we live at the St Katharine Dock north of the river where there are several restaurants, if we want to have a quick meal out we will always cross Tower Bridge, and take the riverside promenade (pass by the trendy Conran establishments - high prices and arrogant staff) to enjoy ASK at Butlers Wharf. If the weather is kind, tables outside are great, as is the view; the staff fantastic, service great and everything well cooked and up to expectations. Even our quirky request for "crispy Infernos" is always complied with, we have taken many guests and always come away happy.

Nice setting and good service. Food is good value for money, although not gourmet, and the wines are very nice and moderatly priced.

Most of the staff seem to be Polish. They are all very hard working and attentive. Recommended!

I visited Ask recently and had a great time. I took my stepson Alfie. He loved the cheesy garlic bread & Spagetti Bolognese. The service was efficient & the atmosphere was perfect. It was also reasonably priced. Great place for adults & kids.
