on a search for really good fish and chips I re-visited Geales after about a 20 year gap, nicely refurbished and good service, Both the Cod and Haddock were deep fried in a non English way and far too greasy for todays tastes, chips on the other hand were crisp fresh and not at all greasy

we felt that they need to show customers a little good will as two and a half slices of bread cost £2 and both dill pickle and 6 small pickled onions were £1 each they only thing they forgot to charge for was the lemon served with the fish, a good bottle of Gavi de Gavi, no puds or coffee £73 Hummm

Having been to the original Geales I was looking forwrad to trying the new revamped restaurant and was very nicely surpirsed. The design is really cool but simple and the service excellent. The food was also excellent in terms of quality but I was quite surpirsed at how small all the portions were eg 3 of us had chips and we thought it was a portion for 1, or 2 at the most. All in all I recommend it and will be back but you do have to order a lot to fill up which of course adds to the bill and we are not generally big eaters. Perhaps if we had been given some bread it might have filled us up.

wine, service & food was excellent. What was pleasing was the place was not overly crowded or loud, located in a quiet residential street, easy calm atmosphere...

I highly recommend this place..

Wonderful,fresh fish,perfectly cooked (get the grilled and not the deep-fried and it's even healthy!)served with a well-priced winelist ,by beautiful Brazilian waitresses.Acosy location which offers a much better dining experience than all those restaurants with attitude that seem to infest this area.
