Zafferano

this restaurant has a Michelin start but to be honest i dont understand why...the food was good but not by far not the best italian food ive had in london! daphne's is much better i think! i went there with my family and we all had different main dishes, we had a buratta to share which i always take in an italian restautant and i found the one in daphes to be absolutely amazing. i had pasta which was average (for an italian rest pasta must be amazing ) my mother and her friend had meat to share which was also ok and my sister had raviolli, also ok. tiramissu was very good though and free :) and the service was very nice, fun and simply pleasant :)

We had a great evening here we were 5 men and had great cocktails about 4 each.

Lots of food and oh so generous truffles with most dishes.The wine waiter was so helpful ordering exactly what went with each course.Paid cash and had free after dinner drink.A great great night we all said we will be back.10/10 JOHN

Enjoyed a wonderful evening at Zafferano last night with colleagues.

Our evening started with really delicious Bellinis in the bar- they were so good that we all ended up having a second round!

We found the staff both in the bar and in the restaurant to be very friendly and attentive. The restaurant had a great atmosphere- it was extremely busy but we never felt lost in the shuffle- it was all very controlled chaos!

I am a big buratta freak and it was served with caponata- really scrumptious as was the chestnut tagliatelle with wild mushrooms.

My colleagues treated themselves to scrambled eggs with white truffles and risotto with white truffle. I had a taste and thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Definently going back for some more of that!

Zafferano was once a great authentic Italian restaurant, but now it is way past its time. The service was awful, and should be an embarrasment to the manager as not one member of the team seemed to know what they were doing. The food was boring and unimaginative and far too expensive for what it was. Bad night, bad food, bad restaurant!!!

We went to Zafferano a few months ago after hearing that it had acquired a michelin star. The food quality overall was OK, but certainly not to a level of a newly crowned michelin star.

We ordered a dish from the seasonal truffle menu (the chicken livers and truffle pasta) and what arrived looked certainly like it had lashings of truffle shavings on it. The only problem was the truffle had no smell or flavour.

After haggling for a bit about the quality of the ingredents, the staff did replace it, but the mood for the evening was already spolit.

The rest of the dishes were acceptable but nothing to write home about. I would give this place a miss - overpriced, stuffy and average quality

I have to say I am very confused by some of the reviews I have read below. Are these people actually visiting the same restaurant as me? I have been a long time fan of Zafferano and have eaten there regularly for the past 10 years. In the last 6 months I have enjoyed probably some of my best meals at Zafferano. The high standard of food, service, atmosphere and professionalism is a combination I very rarely experience anywhere else in London. The bar man Costantino is probably one of the most entertaining and hospitable barmen in London and Enzo and his front of house team have always treated me like I am one of the family. My most recent meal of Spaghetti with courgette and bottarga follwed by the Bistecca Fiorentina with morels and mashed potato was absolutely divine. Considering their location, Zafferano continues to be one of the best value for money experiences in this over priced city.

Zafferano will always be my favorite restaurant in London!!!

while I was surfing in london eating, looking for a great Italian restaurant I got into Zafferano and some of the reviews were disappointing so I decided to go and eat there to taste it.

I went last Tuesday night at around 8.30pm, two nice ladies welcome me and my friend to go to the bar as the table was to be ready soon.

At the bar, it was offered pieces of Reggiano cheeses and some slices of Salame and fresh bread. Atmosphere and ambience were great as well as the staff which explained the plate with lots of details.

I had pappardelle with zafferano with lard and a delicious halibut with small roasted potatoes and the small artichokes well cleaned and very tasteful.

I just had a glass of Red wine, light and fruity from Piedmont area, I enjoyed a lot with my pappardelle and as well with the fish.

Meal was superb, the staff was excellent, professional and efficient. This is a great italian restaurant where you have simple food, great atmosphere and good value for money.

I highly recommend zafferano.

use to be excellent years ago, service is so poor now, the food has certainly gone down hill and the attitude of the staff is terrible.......so overpriced now, wouldn't go back...remember it in the good old days :(

Nice place, good, friendy and attentive service, but the food is very disapointing and continues to live on its past reputation, when it once had excellent food.
