Went to Cosmoba for a meal with my family. The weather was nice so we got a table outside which was nice. The food was excellent (especially my spaghetti with lobster) and the service to match. We finished off with dessert and coffee's (highly recomend the Tiramisu, best I've had!).
Will definately go back!

This is an old-fashioned Italian restaurant, where the waiters help you with your chair. It has been around forever (40 plus years), and is a favourite of the locals in Bloomsbury. Prices are cheap to moderate, with a solid selection of pasta, fish, and meat dishes that seem primarily inspired by Tuscan cuisine. The pizza is good too.

My friends put on a suprise leaving party here for me & my wife, it was a wonderful evening.
There were 25 of us on the night and we spent nearly 3 hours eating, drinking and enjoying ourselves.
The food and wine was great and the atmosphere was fantastic!
Staff were very friendly, even gave us a round of drinks on the house!
Thank you Cosmoba for making our night so special.

Stumbled accross this restaurant after a long days shopping and I have to say it was a great find.
As soon as I walked through the door the staff welcomed me in, attending to all my needs.
I ordered the Gamberoni to start with which was excellent and as a main I opted for the veal chop which I have never come accross in other Italian restaurants but once again excellent.
For dessert i went for the home made Tiramisu. The waiter told me it was very good, well, I have never tasted a dessert as good as this!
Add to all of this a half bottle of Barolo and you have a wonderful evening out.
I now know where I'll be eating when shopping in London!

I am surprised at the vitriol posted in the review below as I have eaten at this restaurant on many occasions and have never experience the problems mentioned. I have always found the staff and owners to be welcoming and friendly and the food to be delicious and as authentic as any reasonably priced Italian in central London - I know for a fact that the Tiramisu is home-made and the best I've ever tasted! I suggest giving it a try and making up your own mind - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I have been going to Cosmoba fairly regularly (every couple of months) for at least 4 years and I have to say I have never had a bad meal yet, whether for lunch or dinner. Ok service has been occasionally slow at busy times but always pleasant, never rude (I've always found to some extent you get back what you give out). And while the food may not always be 'authentic as mama made at home' it's certainly been good enough for me. Prices are not particularly expensive considering its location and I've always thought it reasonable value for money. Excellent wine list too (pity there's none of the wonderful Orvieto Abboccato 2001 left, oh well, just have to make do with the 2003)

really REALLY rubbish. the biggest waste of money and time. looks charming from the outside, especially in the summer-don't be fooled by the tables of people outside, I'm sure these are unsuspecting tourists on their first (and indeed their last) visit. service APPALLING-beware the Curly Watts lookalike masquerading as a waiter. After being ignored completely for some time, I dared to catch his attention to ask for a wine list, but he was too busy being "funny" and "clever" with a table of female tourists. This act obviously sealed my doom though and we received very slow and unfriendly service for the rest of our dining "experience".As for the food - a tin of ravioli would be a)more authentic and b)more enjoyable. Don't go there!

Absolutely rubbish! Jamie Lyon's review is the only one to believe in my opinion. My girlfriend and I were expecting a lovely Italian meal but got caught up in a classic tourist trap... rubbery squid, bland pasta sauce (out of a tin), paper thin veal smothered in grease and breadcrumbs. A white vine sauce dish arrived to our table red!

I have been enjoying Cosmoba since 1980. Changes in ownership have changed some dishes and ceratinly prices but it is still a "must" whenever I am in London. Try the chicken Kiev!
